This morning NILEA is asking for Prayers for ISP Trooper Azariah Keith who was seriously injured on I-65 near Indianapolis while providing assistance to a stranded motorist with a flat tire. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Today we remember the life and service of Munster Police Officer Joe Pacheco, who passed away six years ago today. He was an outstanding role model for his fellow officers and the many students that he taught and mentored in a positive way. Thank you for your brave service, Joe.
As you head to the polls for Election Day, consider our endorsement of Town Council candidates George Shinkan (Ward 1), Joe Hofferth (Ward 2), David Nellans (Ward 4), Jonathan Peterson (Ward 5), and Clerk Treasurer Wendy Mis. We believe these candidates will take a common sense approach to the decisions that impact our community. Your vote matters.

The Munster Police Department and Munster Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #147 are now seeking donations through November 10th towards our department's 19th Annual Cops & Kids holiday shopping program for children in need. Each year, we shop with pre-selected children in need for toys or clothing with funds that were donated by local residents, businesses, and community service organizations. Last year (with the generous support and assistance of the Munster Junior Woman's Club) approximately 90 children were assisted through this program thanks to the generosity of others.
If you would like to provide a donation this year, please make checks payable to the Town of Munster (memo: Cops & Kids) and mail them to the Munster Police Department, c/o Community Policing Unit, 1001 Ridge Road, Munster, IN 46321. Thank you in advance for your support this holiday season!
PLEASE NOTE: Participating families are pre-selected and must be referred to our police department from reputable sources. We unfortunately cannot take families who contact us directly to participate. Thank you.
Lodge members participated in the Lynwood First Responders Association's 6th Annual Charity Softball Tournament benefiting Protecting K9 Heroes at Central Park in Dyer. Although our team did not come away victorious, we had a great time supporting this great cause. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the softball event this year!
This weekend, players from our Lodge will be competing in the Lynwood Police & Fire 6th Annual Charity Softball Tournament in Dyer, Indiana. Come out and cheer on our members while supporting a great cause. This year, the tournament will be raising money for Protecting K9 Heroes. Protecting K9 Heroes is a nonprofit organization that provides Ballistic Vests, Medical Kits, NARCAN and any other protective gear to working K9s.
At tonight’s Town Council meeting our Lodge President Jack De Leeuw and Brother Kevin Cooley were presented with awards for their years of service to the Munster Police Department. Congratulations on 25 years of service! The Town of Munster is so fortunate to have you as a part of our community. Your humility, generosity, and kindness is a constant source of motivation and inspiration, and your dedication and work ethics are exemplary. We wish you many more years of success.
Join us during the month of September as we help raise awareness and funds for su***de prevention within the first responder and veteran community.
WHERE & WHEN
This is a virtual event, and you will self-monitor your progress.
The challenge: in September, you simply need to walk, run, or roll one mile each day.
Make your mile happen wherever you are or want to go — city streets, country roads, trails, tracks, treadmills, or in laps around your home —
at sunrise, sunset, lunch breaks, or whenever works for you.

Get your walking shoes out… It's almost time for the One Mile Challenge.
September is Su***de Awareness Month. Our Lodge is honored to support Guardian Revival in the fight against veteran & first responder su***de.
The mission: Walk 1 mile every single day in September, either with our without weight, in order to help raise awareness and funds for su***de prevention within the Guardian population (veterans and first responders).
We've formed our own Lodge team for the challenge, and would love to have you be a part of it with us. There's strength in numbers and power in community, especially when it comes to important initiatives like this one.
To join our team in support of this worthy cause, all you need to do is click the link below and then commit to your daily walks from September 1-30.
Want to donate to the cause but not participate in the walks? You can do so by also clicking the link to help us reach our goal of raising $500.
