Hanukah celebrates the victory of the Jewish army, the Maccabees, over the Syrian-Greek army. After the army destroyed the Holy Temple, the Jews found only enough oil for one day, but it miraculously lasted eight days. This miracle is commemorated each year by lighting the menorah for eight nights. Hannukah signifies the triumph of light over darkness. 🕯️
