Modus Operandi Cellars
"For some, determining ones true purpose in life is accomplished thru following the path of least resistance, and thus relinquishing to passion".
I've dedicated my life to the pursuit of making great wine. Countless number of people have told me that they envy the move I made and wish that they too could drop everything to pursue their dream, whether it be wine, art, food or whatever. Well take it from me, the son of a carpenter and a person who discovered his love for wine by being a waiter in Dallas, that anything is possible when you rel
In the quiet shadows of my Napa Valley cave, I pour my soul into each barrel.
For those of you who know me and find joy in my craft, I am grateful.
To those yet to discover, when will you know me and the wines of Modus Operandi Cellars?

If you want a little before its officially released, you know a guy… doesn’t hurt to ask.
Got some very nice news today!
In the same release mentioning the LEGEND John Kongsgaard, LPB from the Wine Independent writes:
I urge readers to revisit the Modus Operandi article we published a couple of years ago about Jason Moore’s journey from Dallas to Napa to follow his dream of becoming a winemaker. Jason is a talented new voice in the valley with compelling creativity, an impressive palate, and incredible attention to detail.

Makes me feel good to receive great marks on my “report card”. Even though I’m still chasing that “thing” 😉, I’m proud of these and they only encourage me to continue producing world class wines for my friends and customers.
We all know that there is so much amazing wine made by amazing winemakers in this (Napa) valley and that (Sonoma) valley, and I’m honored and privilaged to be among them.
I thank God first 🙌🏼 for the blessing of my life, to be able to do this for a living in this amazingly beautiful place.
I thank my supporters as well, as your support helps me to continue on.
Join our list and grab some wine if you’re curious.
And FYI, several of these will only be available thru our loyalty club as I select the best barrels from each vineyard and bottle just enough for our membership… the rest is blended in other great wines that we’ll have a little more of.

Please consider participating in this Kickstarter of a dear friend of mine, Jonathan Swanz. I’ve known Jonathan for about 10 years and have visited him in Hawaii where I witnessed him doing what he does best... creating art through blowing glass. He’s a certified bad ass who has created custom installations in some of the most exclusive homes, skyscraper lobbies, and the PGA Nationals Resort in Palm Beach to name a few.
Like me when I risked it all moving from Dallas to Napa to pursue my dream of making wine, Jonathan is doing the same now as he is trying to make his passion, his own personal reality by creating an art studio on land he’s already purchased on Big Island, HI where he will mentor aspiring artists and enthusiasts on his compound.
And the best news (for my wine loving friends) is that one of the kickstarter items he’s selling is the famous “Swanz Decanter” that I have personally sold to around a hundred of my friends and customers of Modus Operandi Cellars over the years, but a good deal must be had… he’s only charging $250 vs what I had to charge ($350). These are custom made by hand by Jonathan and each decanter is unique, and they are very rare as he hasn’t made them for me in several years, and only 100 are available via this campaign.
So this is an easy decision to make in my opinion.
If anyone deserves your support, its Jonathan as he’s a great guy, full of love and kindness… I just couldn’t say a bad thing about him.
I’m going to add a link in the comments to the video I made of him blowing my Decanter, of which I have 5 in my collection. These things pour wine like a dream.
If you love wine, please share this and tag your collector friends so that we can help this badass hippie out!

The wine industry lost a legend. So many things to highlight in this mans career is insane...
I was blessed to serve him a few times during my tenure at La Toque and even was tasked to pour 1 bottle of the Paris Tasting 73' Cab for like 40 people... that was nerve racking to say the least!
RIP Mr Winiarski.

Today was a great day.
Sold out of my apex cab "Collection" in 1 hour, a new record for me.
Had 2 tastings which were referrals from Elizabeth Ellis and John Trant, both of which resulted in 100% new club member conversions with many cases sold + and more importantly, new friendships that will last a lifetime.
I don't say this to brag, I say this to give all the credit and glory to God who blessed me with my friendships and talent for making wine. Without Him ☝🏼 I would be nothing.
I live and breath to serve Him first, and the wine and anything else is second.
And by Him, so I'm clear, I mean my savior, my redeemer, the greatest of all time, Jesus Christ.
Releasing this to the club today, and to the general list on the 28th. 🙌🏼

75 Dom, 75 Caymus, 77 Stony Hill, 75 Fonceca 21 Modus. Bro. The Caymus was amazing and so was the Dom. 77 Stony Hill still had plenty of life! Modus was the s*xy lady turning heads in the Pinot realm. Amazing food, service, and wine tonight 😍
Cool hanging with Alex, Maya, and thanks to the CD 715 Houston crew Alex Offutt for hosting.
Spent some long overdue time with one of the old school mentors of my career Adam Lee tonight in Palm Springs with his charming and talented lady Moret. Was able to share some of my non existent syrah with them while we caught up.
So great to talk shop and life with such great people. Tomorrow we both showcase our wines at Passion for Pinot in Palm Springs.
I'm blessed 🙌🏼
Oh. My. GOD!!! I need to change my underwear after my... "release" after drinking this wine. HOLY GUACAMOLE!! This is black tar-motor oil-olive tapenade-creasote awesomeness. Gooood lordy mercy! 🤤 If my mom was here, I'd slap her! 😂 (Love you Virginia)
Sorry though... Literally ZERO bottles to sell so this isn't an "OMG it's so good, here's a link to purchase" sales pump post. ALLLLLLL of this is going to the club as that's the point of the Modus Operandi Cellars club (ok this is a "join the club ya vo**ur" post 😂).
I literally HATE IT that I don't have like 40 cases to drink myself 😩 but... nope. I have to keep even MY hands off this wine till the club is processed and I know if there's any left.
So! If you're a beloved, charished, appreciated current club member, you're some of the lucky few that will ever know this liquid art. Let's enjoy it together. Thank you for your support as without you, I wouldn't be able to do what I do. Your calls, texts, emails with your kind words and praise FUEL ME to keep going strong, making wine for YOU! Thank you ♥️

Describing my 2021 UV Laguna Vineyard Pinot Noir...
Channeling the smooth, soulful essence of Sade (be sure to read it with her voice in your head), particularly reminiscent of "No Ordinary Love"
Verse 1:
In the heart of the night, by Russian River's flow,
A Pinot Noir, in a ruby-purple glow.
Black raspberries, redcurrants, a delicate kiss,
Lilacs and violets, a floral bliss.
Chorus:
Oh, 2021 UV-Laguna, a love so deep and fine,
Rated 97 by LPB, in every line.
A melody of flavors, rich and true,
In this glass, a love's rendezvous.
Verse 2:
Dried lavender, a memory's gentle sway,
Dried mint, crushed rocks, in this ballet.
A hint of cedar, like an embrace from the past,
Full-bodied, opulent, a love to last.
Chorus:
In this Pinot, a story softly sung,
2021 UV-Laguna, on every tongue.
LPB's 97 points, a harmony so divine,
In this wine, our hearts entwine.
Bridge:
A palate of power, a subtle earth's embrace,
Mineral whispers, in a tender space.
Plush tannins, like a lover's gentle touch,
A finish of length, meaning so much.
Verse 3:
Tension compelling, like a soft, secret plea,
In this Pinot, our spirits fly free.
A journey of senses, a symphony, a sign,
The 2021 UV-Laguna, a love's design.
Outro:
In the quiet of the night, a tale to tell,
This wine, our love, under its spell.
The 2021 UV-Laguna, a star in the night,
In every glass, our hearts take flight.
Aaaaaaand now you're naked. 😂

This meal has me flexing my O-face... 😍
Akiashi ribeye reverse seared with a bottle of Modus Operandi Cellars Sage Ridge Cabernet makes me wanna slap yo mamma!!
I love eating directly from the cutting board as it holds heat better and doesn't make the food cold in like 10 seconds after plating.
WOW... I think this is probably the nicest review / comment I've ever gotten... I think I'm gonna cry...
"If you’re a fan of doing the whole “one of these things is not like the other” game then Modus Operandi is your kind of winery. Jason Moore is a self taught (although he is quick to credit mentors) winemaker from Dallas Texas. He is not a billionaire, he’s not operating out of a Howard Backen designed cathedral of a winery and he’s not perched atop Pritchard Hill on a perfect piece of land. What he is is a salt of the earth guy who wears every hat in his company, has cultivated relationships that allow him to source some of the absolute best fruit in Napa and Sonoma, and has used that fruit to make some of the best wines I’ve had. Jason has built MO from zero to where it is today, approximately 5,000 cases of as he puts it “too many wines”. I have recently been in a Pinot Noir phase, and as luck would have it Jason recently began making Pinot. While not his main focus, the two Pinots he shared w me (UV Laguna and Gap’s Crown) were exceptional, I am certain his other two from Silver Eagle and Bacigalupi are just as good. We then moved to his Antithesis blend which is as unique as his story, and it’s also a winner. I won’t tell the whole story, but I assure you you’ve never had a wine made like this before, and it is great. Next up were two 2019 single vineyard Cabernets, Edcora and Sage Ridge. These two wines, while being dense, powerful and rich, were also velvety smooth and elegant, light on their feet so to speak. Jason shared 5 wines with us and I would absolutely buy every single one. I don’t join wine clubs, I joined this one. Do yourself a favor and book a tasting, you won’t be disappointed."
Tasting thru some library wines that I'm opening up for sale and the first one has me proud as hell...
I made a Burgundy wine from California fruit 😍
Pamela Bacigalupi this isn't normal for my style but I'm happy to have a few of these to show off! 🙌🏼
I absolutely LOOOOVE getting these emails!!!
This is one of few I've gotten lately.
Hi Jason!
Just tried the 2021 Malbec from our wine club shipment and we are in LOVE!
Would absolutely want to see similar Malbec options in the future.
Also, any chance you have 6 extra bottles out back that we can purchase?
Laura

YEEEEE HAWWWWW
I challenge anyone who thinks they don't like Pinot to try this and tell me that after trying this wine. Listen up... I GUARANTEE IT OR YOUR MONEY BACK. This wine is pure s*x in a bottle. And not sloppy s*x...
If wine was music, this wine is Sade. And "this, is, no, ordinary love"... This wine is different 👀
I'm putting my money where my mouth (currently) is.
Try it. If you don't love it, I'll give your money back (less shipping).
97 points from a major critic, if you're in to that.
You didn't even know, did you?
Trying this again tonight to see how it's evolving, and boy is it good 😍
Needs a few hours being open still but that's ok, it's young.
Clean and pure with a long lovely electric finish.
You can grab a little on the site if you're curious.
5 barrels produced.
