Great wine starts in the vineyard, and our rocky, well-drained soils are so healthy that even wildflowers love them. That’s due in large part to our sustainable practices. For preventing and eradicating pests, we rely first on a system of biological practices, such as parasitic wasps for control of mealybugs and removing infected vines that have become a source to the pest. We limit use of insecticides to times when beneficial bugs are not active.  Our pest management system is only one small part of our sustainability efforts, and we are proud to be both Napa Green and Fish Friendly Farming certified.

Meet Harry, estate manager Glenn Salva's 3½-year-old Goldendoodle. Harry loves roaming the vineyards and hanging out with Glenn at the winery—but he also likes to visit us in the tasting room, where we call him Prosciutto, because he loves it when we sometimes slip him a tiny bit of it. He's pictured here with Kim Peters, who greets all of our guests, who quickly learn that she loves animals and feeds the hummingbirds we have up here. Harry loves to play fetch and will chase anything we throw for him. He was a great companion during COVID as he is always happy.
