June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month! 🧠
At Martin Avenue Apartments, we care deeply about the well-being of our residents and community. Understanding and supporting brain health is crucial for everyone. According to Pace Hospitals, Hitech City, in 2016, neurological conditions were the second-largest cause of fatalities (9 million) and the leading cause of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) globally (276 million). The four leading causes of neurological DALYs are strokes, migraines, alzheimer’s and other dementias, and meningitis.
While Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month focuses on all types of dementia, two additional events specifically highlight Alzheimer’s Disease: World Alzheimer's Month (September) and National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month (November). Evidence suggests that certain lifestyle choices can help lower the risk of cognitive decline:
1️⃣ Engaging in regular cardiovascular exercise
2️⃣ Maintaining social connections
3️⃣ Avoiding smoking
4️⃣ Reading regularly
5️⃣ Getting adequate sleep
6️⃣ Eating a balanced diet
7️⃣ Practicing safe driving to prevent brain injuries
8️⃣ Playing strategic games

Let's work together to raise awareness and promote brain health this month and beyond!
