Todays the day! Like most roofs in New Orleans, our old worn out roof dates back to 2006 - it was last replaced just after hurricane Katrina. Thanks to our generous donors, we reached one of our goals for the capital campaign this month! Our brand new roof is going on today! We’re so excited to take this step for the sustainability of the ministry. Thank you friends, family and supporters!
On this Give NOLA day, we're excited to announce our 2022-23 Capital Campaign. We're so blessed to have an amazing building that is our home right on Freret St. in the heart of the Uptown University district. We've had a few big changes over the last few years, including launching The Labyrinth café, a new Campus Minister, Rev. Zoe Garry, and a new cafe manager, Carrie Stuckwisch. With these changes have come a lot of fresh, exciting momentum, and we have many plans for the continuation and expansion of our ministry! Most importantly, we are tasked with caring for our building for years to come. You're invited to take part! Check it out at the link below:

Brenton Brock wrote “In my reading of genesis, particularly the story of Noah, I have come to this conclusion: I am committed to building what I’ve never seen before, or heard of, and understand that the fruit of my labor will save my life and my family’s life.”
Today we are bracing for one of the worst hurricanes in Louisiana’s history with the realistic possibility that many parts of the state will be destroyed. Homes, buildings, and belongings will be destroyed. Looking to Noah and our collective faith’s memory of destruction we find in an unjust moment of destruction- there is also the possibility of us building something that can quite frankly save our lives. We are given this moment in our life to direct ourselves to sit in a posture of change and authority.
There are many unknowns in this moment. What the storm will bring, the extent of the damage, and how long it will take to build and rebuild. But our faith invites us to collectively and actively be a part of something we have never seen before. To create a community, a world that will save our lives. It is my prayer today that in looking to the future we can be filled with the confidence that we are active participants in that future and are committed to creation and beauty. Amen.
Queerly Beloved,
In June, I received a letter from a student thanking me for the past year at Wesley. There is line in the letter that has stuck with me this month. It said, “I used to believe that God loved me despite who I am, but because of the you and the ministry I know God loves me because of who I am.” In a moment of vulnerability, the mission of NOLA Wesley and the Labyrinth was perfectly encapsulated in this sentence.
NOLA Wesley was established as not only an inclusive space, but an affirming one for the students of the Tulane and Loyola campuses. As one of the only queer-affirming ministries, our operations are vital for students who wish to explore their faith in a safe and accepting place- where they can confidently build their relationship with God- not despite who they are, but because of who they are. A Queerly Beloved Child of God.
Every June we excitedly usher in Pride. A month of memory, celebration, and transparency for the LGBT+ community. In reflecting on what Pride means to you as a member of the LGBT+ community or as an ally- I ask you to support our ministry.
As our ministry is dynamic- so is the support we ask from our community. This summer there are several workdays that we need assistance in to prepare for the students, we need a new Board Treasurer, and are currently raising money for fall programming for our students.
If any of these are something you are interested in your help and support are forever needed and deeply appreciated.
Blessings,
Rev Zoë Garry

Today is Maundy Thursday. A day on our Christian Calendar when we memorialize Jesus’s last supper with his disciples and the night of his betrayal.
It was on Thursday that Jesus used this meal to establish the words and ritual of one of our most sacred sacraments: Communion.
Tonight (4/1) at 5:00 PM we will be making baking bread (in the kitchen) and then having communion together to honor the last supper and the beginning of the passion.
I hope you can join us tonight.

When did we begin to believe that being kind was weakness?
Research shows that when we are kind and experience kindness our quality of life increases. In fact the greatest indication of satisfaction in a relationship, specifically marriage, is kindness. Ruth the Moabite's story shows to us the power of kindness
