Banfield Pet Hospital® - Uptown Manhattan provides quality and attentive health and wellness care for dog, cat and small animal pet patients. Our veterinarians and staff are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventive health care with a full-service medical facility offering general services like routine vaccinations, microchipping, dental and surgical care and more.
Euthanasia, often referred to as “putting to sleep,” is something we take very seriously at Banfield Pet Hospital in New York.
We strive to create a calm, supportive environment to make you and your dog or cat as comfortable as possible. We reserve special rooms for these visits, where our staff will review the process of saying goodbye and you can ask any questions you have.
You can choose to be with your pet, or you can say goodbye and let our team provide a compassionate environment for your pet’s final moments.
Saying goodbye is never easy, but we hope to offer support and professional guidance throughout the process.

Stay safe out there in New York! 🐕
Exposing your dog to the outside world can be risky — since there’s always the potential for contact with an infectious disease. Common diseases your dog can contract include canine flu, canine distemper, kennel cough, ringworm, and leptospirosis.
Places where your dog can contract a disease:
- Dog parks
- Stores or farmers markets
- Dog bars
- Restaurants
- Campgrounds
- Festivals
- Dog events
- Overgrown backyards
- Even just walking on a public sidewalk
Luckily, there are some simple ways to help keep your dog safe from common diseases. Two of the most important are ensuring your dog is on year-round parasite prevention and that they’re up to date on their vaccinations.
Talk to your veterinary team at Banfield Pet Hospital - Uptown for more ways to look out for your dog’s health.

Pets typically show pain through behavioral changes. While these may be apparent in dogs, cats are notoriously good at hiding their pain — so you may need to be extra observant with feline friends. 🐱
Common signs of pain in dogs and cats:
- Slow to rise
- Changes in how cat goes up/down steps or jumps on/off things
- Going to the bathroom outside the litterbox
- Less interest in play
- Decreased grooming
- Irritability or hiding
- Licking or chewing a certain spot
- Less energy, increased sleeping
- Difficulty with or avoiding stairs
Assessing and treating your pet’s pain takes a strong partnership between you and your vet. If you think your pet may be in pain, visit your vet care team at Banfield Pet Hospital - Uptown. Make an appointment today!

We are proud to announce this exciting new change!
Because of the Corona outbreak we have cancelled all appointments for the near future. In case of an emergency please call Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners at 212-767-0099.
Please be safe everyone!
We hope you and your pets remain safe and healthy during this very difficult time. We also want you to know that Uptown Vets remains open at present, operating on our regular business hours.
We are, however, asking all of you to help us follow the recommendations of the AVMA by scheduling appointments only for sick or injured patients until further notice. Wellness visits and non-emergency care should be deferred til a later time.
We will also ask you to remain in our reception area while your pet is treated elsewhere in the clinic by our doctors and technical staff.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, and please keep yourselves safe and healthy.
