🇺🇸This weekend, we were in Maryland for the second time, assisting asylum seekers through our immigration process program.
In partnership with SAMU and Golden Verita, hundreds of asylum seekers were able to submit their applications to USCIS.

Applying for asylum is crucial to gain and maintain safe refuge in the United States, adjust one’s legal immigration status, obtain work authorization, gain independence, and integrate into the community.

To date, almost 4,000 asylum seekers have submitted their asylum, work permits, and TPS applications through our immigration process program. Our vision is to provide them with all the tools they need for a healthy integration.

🇪🇸Este fin de semana estuvimos en Maryland por segunda vez, asistiendo a los solicitantes de asilo a través de nuestro programa de procesos migratorios.

En alianza con SAMU y Golden Verita, cientos de solicitantes de asilo pudieron presentar sus solicitudes a USCIS.

Solicitar asilo es crucial para obtener y mantener refugio seguro en los Estados Unidos, ajustar el estatus migratorio legal, obtener autorización de trabajo, ganar independencia e integrarse en la comunidad.

🇺🇸On March 13, , President of and , had the privilege of participating in the Global Gender and Migration Forum held at Fordham University in New York City. This important event focused on addressing the unique challenges and needs of women, girls, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and gender-diverse migrants amid human mobility.

Our panel discussion was dedicated to exploring the gender-specific health challenges triggered by the widespread displacement of millions from Venezuela. The session served as a vital platform for discussing the pressing health needs and obstacles faced by Venezuelan women, girls, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and gender-diverse people.

The session was titled “Displacement, Gender, and Health in the context of Venezuela,” underscoring the critical intersection of these issues.

🇪🇸 El 13 de marzo, , presidente de y , tuvo el privilegio de participar en el Foro Global de Género y Migración celebrado en la Universidad de Fordham en la ciudad de Nueva York. 🇺🇸Since spring 2022, more than 175,300 asylum seekers have arrived in New York City. Currently, more than 66,000 are in the shelter system.

Eric Adams’ administration has open 215 shelters, including 17 humanitarian relief centers. Today, 78% of the population in shelters are families with children.

Weekly, we serve more than 250 people free of charge with clothing, food and information. To date we have served more than 25,000 people and of those, 2,500 have benefited from our legal program.

This week we offered bags with school kits, coats and winter boots to different families who have just arrived and lost everything on their way to NYC.

Our work focuses on the people, on caring for and serving this community, welcoming them to New York City, which is a city made of immigrants.

Our vision is based on the healthy integration of these people, providing them with the tools they need to be part of society and contribute to the development of the city and the country.

🇪🇸Desde la primavera de 2022, más de 175.300 solicitantes de asilo han llegado a la ciudad de Nueva York. Actualmente, más de 66.000 están en el sistema de refugio.

La administración de Eric Adams se ha visto en la necesidad de habilitar 215 albergues incluyendo 17 centros de alivio humanitario. Hoy, 78% de la población en albergues son familias con niños.

Semanalmente, atendemos gratuitamente a más de 250 personas con ropa, comida e información. Hasta la fecha hemos atendido a más de 25.000 personas y de esas, 2.500 se han beneficiado de nuestro programa legal.

Esta semana ofrecimos bolsos con kits escolares, abrigos y botas de inviernos a diferentes familias que acaban llegar y perdieron todo en su camino a NYC.

Nuestro trabajo se centra en el ser humano, en atender y servir a esta comunidad; darles la bienvenida a la ciudad de Nueva York, la cual se caracteriza por ser una ciudad hecha de inmigrantes.

Nuestra visión se basa en la sana integración de estas personas, brindarles las herramientas que necesitan para que sean parte de la sociedad y contribuyan con el desarrollo de la ciudad y el país.

🇪🇸La historia del sacerdote Valentín de Terni, más conocido como San Valentín, se remonta a la desobediencia que tuvo contra el emperador Claudio II, quien había prohibido que los soldados se casaran. Claudio expresaba que un guerrero sin lazos familiares era más valiente porque no tenía miedo de arriesgar su vida. Valentín hizo caso omiso y continuó casando en secreto a parejas enamoradas, hasta que fue descubierto y ejecutado el 14 de febrero de 270.

El amor es un gran impulsor en las decisiones que tomamos: el amor por nuestra pareja, hijos, padres, amigos. Ese sentimiento desencadena acciones que pueden poner en riesgo nuestra integridad física, emocional y mental. Sin embargo, muchas veces el amor es más grande, y por eso tomamos decisiones desesperadas. Aunque se enfrenten a grandes desafíos, la población migrante a lo largo de las Américas está buscando el bienestar de sus familias

🇺🇸The story of the priest Valentine of Terni, better known as Saint Valentine, dates back to the disobedience he had against the emperor Claudius II, who had prohibited soldiers from marrying. Claudio expressed that a warrior without family ties was braver because he was not afraid to risk his life. Valentine ignored him and continued to secretly marry loving couples, until he was discovered and executed on February 14, 270.

Love is a great driver in the decisions we make; love for our partner, children, parents, friends. This feeling triggers actions that can put our physical, emotional, and mental integrity at risk. However, many times love is greater, and that is why we make desperate decisions. Although they face great challenges, the migrant population throughout the Americas is seeking the well-being of their families.

Today, November 30, was declared “Venezuela Day🇻🇪 in the United States🇺🇸”

A group of 80 prominent Venezuelans were recognized at the White House. Among them is , president of AID FOR LIFE and AID FOR AIDS.

This represents a recognition of the achievements and contribution to society made by the Venezuelan diaspora.

🇪🇸En el Día Mundial del Cáncer de Mama, AID FOR AIDS y AID FOR LIFE se solidariza y apoya a todxs lxs que luchan contra esta enfermedad. La prevención y la detección temprana son las mejores muestras de cuidado. La mamografía, el autoexamen, y las muestras de apoyo, marcan la diferencia. 💖 Recordemos que la lucha contra esta enfermedad es una batalla que todxs tenemos que enfrentar.

Cifras según la OMS:

* Cada año, se diagnostican más de 2 millones de casos de cáncer de seno en todo el mundo.
* El cáncer de seno es el cáncer más común entre las mujeres, representando el 25% de todos los casos. La detección temprana es clave.
* 1 de cada 8 mujeres enfrentará el diagnóstico de cáncer de seno en su vida.
* Las tasas de supervivencia aumentan significativamente con la detección temprana.
* En 2020, 685 000 personas fallecieron por cáncer de mama en todo el mundo.

🇺🇸 On International day against breast cancer, AID FOR AIDS and AID FOR LIFE stands in solidarity and supports everyone fighting this disease. Prevention and early detection are the best signs of care. Mammography, self-examination and signs of support make a difference. 💖 Let us remember that the fight against this disease is a battle that we all have to face.
