Our goes out to Academy Summer Intensive former student, now Academy Summer Intensive Teacher, ♥️ It is truly an honor to follow along our dancers journeys especially when they bring them back to where it all started! Take a moment to read Victoria’s story…it’s a special one!

“No lie, I think this may be the most meaningful thing I’ve ever posted. These are some pictures of me aged 14-17 dancing at the School at Steps on Broadway (now called Steps Academy). My whole life changed when I attended the Summer Intensive at Steps. Suddenly, all at once, I was exposed to the world of dance in Manhattan, and there was no going back. It was HARD! I could not keep up at first, but I was relentless and I did not stop until I could hang. And my feet bled! (I chose to not post that photo of my feet from that first summer- lol!) Those teachers changed my whole world and I will hold each of them close in my heart for the rest of my life, any time I move my body. Why does this matter now? Because I’ll be making my STEPS on Broadway teaching debut this year, teaching in the very summer intensive that altered my whole world. I’m in disbelief that I’ve grown and learned enough to give back at this iconic institution- I get to share with students who are the same age that I was when I took those first steps into 2121 Broadway. I hope that I can give them a small fraction of what my teachers gave me. 14 year old Victoria would never believe it, if she could see me now.”

Our Pre-Professional dancers and faculty had the opportunity to visit for ballet and hip-hop demonstrations ⭐️ We are honored to be the first step in the dance journey for P.S. 51’s first and third graders. Thank you for joining the Steps on Broadway Academy in these demonstrations. We hope to see you in our studios soon!

The event promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of dance that audiences won’t want to miss ⭐️

Originally from California, Gilbert, a student of the joined New York City Ballet as an apprentice in 2017 and as corps in 2018. A fashion designer, dancer, and just an all around stellar human - Thank you for taking the time to work with our students ⭐️
