Natural-looking porcelain crowns can make a huge difference for a smile.
But they can do so much more than that! This patient was suffering with tooth decay that could have made this tooth unsalvageable. Broken and decayed teeth can cause constant discomfort and make it hard to chew comfortably or smile with confidence.
We used a strong, durable porcelain crown to rebuild lost enamel and stabilize the tooth so they could get back to living life to the fullest!
Dental Pro-Tip!
To get even more mileage out of your flossing routine, use floss with fluoride! This will remove bacteria that can cause cavities while adding a mineral supplement to strengthen the enamel. Talk about a double-whammy!
Don't want to switch to floss already treated with fluoride? You can even add a little fluoride toothpaste to your favorite floss for a similar effect.
Dry mouth, a condition where your mouth doesn't produce enough saliva, can contribute to bad breath and tooth decay. Plus, it can be incredibly uncomfortable!
Saliva plays a vital role in your oral health by:
Washing Away Food Particles: Saliva helps wash away food particles and debris that can lead to bad breath and cavities.
Neutralizing Acid: Saliva contains substances that neutralize the acids produced by plaque bacteria. These acids can erode tooth enamel and lead to cavities.
Mineralizing Teeth: Saliva contains minerals like calcium and phosphate, which help strengthen tooth enamel and prevent decay.
Here are some tips to manage dry mouth:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Avoid sugary drinks and alcohol, which can dehydrate you.
Sugar-Free Gum: Chewing sugar-free gum can stimulate saliva flow.
Humidifier: Using a humidifier at night can add moisture to the air and help alleviate dry mouth.
Talk to Your Dentist: If you experience chronic dry mouth, talk to our team at Fort Washington Dental Associates to determine the underlying cause and explore treatment options.

Did you know dental sealants can prevent cavities by up to 80%? Sealants are a quick, painless way to protect your teeth, especially for children and young adults. Ask at your next appointment if sealants are right for you!

Did you know the angle of your toothbrush matters? Using a gentle back-and-forth motion with soft bristles angled slightly towards the gum line (around 45 degrees) can remove plaque most effectively!
Here's why: Plaque Buildup: Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that forms on teeth. It can lead to cavities and gum disease if not removed regularly.
Reaching the Gum Line: The gum line is the area where your teeth meet your gums. Plaque can build up here and irritate the gums, leading to gingivitis (gum inflammation). Angling your brush helps reach this important area.
Gentle on Gums: Using a soft brush and gentle pressure prevents damage to your gums, which can be sensitive.
Brushing for two minutes, twice a day, with proper technique is crucial for optimal oral health. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/whats-the-right-way-to-brush-your-teeth-202211232854"
