On 25th Anniversary of Poland joined the NATO, on March 12th Polish language students at Hunter College participated in a great lecture “Poland and Poles During World War II (1939-1945)” given by Rafal Koscianski, Ph.D. from the Institute of National Remembrance in Poznan, Poland.
Dr Koscianski talked about the Versailles Order, the terror of occupation and genocide, the Polish Underground State, among others. Students had a chance to ask questions. The Polish Program received the following books “The Fighting Republic of Poland 1939-1945” by Maciej Korkuc and “28 June 1956 in Poznan” by Stanislaw Jankowiak, Rafal Koscianski, Rafal Reczek to be used to enrich students’ knowledge about Polish history.

Professor Danuta Swiatek teaches at Polish Program at Hunter College in NYC and is one of the seven recipients of the Polish Senate Speaker's Award in a journalistic competition.
This year's topic was “Polki poza Polską” about Polish women promoting Polish language around the world.
Danuta traveled to Poland to participate in the award ceremony at the Senate in Warsaw on February 28.
The award was presented by Deputy Speaker Rafał Grupinski, followed by a splendid reception.
