Friendly reminder that registration is open until 9 PM tonight for the FREE group ride this Sunday. There will be a surprise dignitary leading the A group this week, so we'll have proper rides for all three groups. The weather is very much in our favor, so let's take advantage of it while we can!

Fantastic kick off to our Sunday Group Rides. We mixed up the route a little this year and did our part to ensure great weather .

Happy Saturday, everyone! Tomorrow we finally get back on the road together for the Gruppo Sportivo GFNY Sunday Group Rides! The weather looks great unless you aren't happy with a start around 40F/5C - but don't forget that we already had notable snowfall by this time last year.

FRIENDLY REMINDER to bring your printed and signed waiver to this ride (http://gfny.com/GFNYgroupridewaiver.pdf) - everyone needs to supply this once a season, after that, you'll only need to register for each week's ride.

NOTE TO A-RIDERS: There is no A-group lead rider tomorrow, so you are welcome to join the B-group (and be patient with us) or form a group and ride on your own.

Lastly (for now) is to remind everyone that rides this time of year are primarily social and training base miles. Pace will be modest to assure everyone can get back into the swing - especially anyone that hasn't been riding lately.

The winter holidays arrive early for participants in GFNY 2016 - the FREE GROUP RIDES are here! Registration is open from now until Friday night. In the next day or so I'll post the routes with the B group doing about 40-miles and the C-group doing about 30-miles. Everyone should be back at Strictly Bicycles by 1:00 PM after a 9:00 AM roll out.

Please don't forget to bring a signed waiver to your first ride of the year (that's everyone this week) - you'll find the link in the Eventbrite details when registering.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and while getting back to work today may be a challenge, I have a much more welcomed challenge for you this week. What is it? It's the kickoff of our Gruppo Sportivo GFNY group rides this Sunday!

As in previous years, the ride registration will be open each Thursday and Friday for that Sunday's ride and you need to be registered for GFNY 2016 in order to participate in these free training rides.

H/T to Wade who shared the article below the other day and I encourage everyone to read it and live by these rules. It's an old article that circulates frequently, but it's a solid example of the "art of the group ride." Our Gruppo Sportivo leaders can't be everywhere in the group, so it's up to each and every rider to do their part.

Remember, these are training rides for BASE MILES and SOCIAL INTERACTION - these rides are not the time to race or ride recklessly. We're all looking forward to our training season with you!

I don't know about the rest of you, but this weather is making me feel like it's time for the GS-GFNY Sunday Group rides to begin! Alas, we've got seven more weeks of "warm" weather before our group rides officially begin on Sunday, December 6th.
