I was an activist before I became a bodyworker 30 years ago, so I've long been interested in the intersection between body-centered awareness practice and social transformation. This new offering is as clearly conceived and articulated as anything I've yet seen. Even if you're not going to take the class, do check it out and take in the deep perspective the descriptions offer.
"This course introduces an embodied approach to understanding and transforming entrenched patterns of relating to others based on inequitable social power dynamics. Grounded in current research, it offers a clear description of how oppression is experienced as a bodily ‘felt sense’ and identifies the mostly unconscious behaviors that perpetuate oppression. In particular, the course will address how embodied microaggressions contribute to the traumatic impact of oppression, how unexamined body norms can perpetuate body shame, and how privilege can be unconsciously embedded in everyday movements and postures."

Hello friends. This video marks the confluence of several things I've been aiming towards for awhile: including becoming more active in sharing my work through online videos for sure (this is the first "long" one I've posted in several years); and presenting a public offering on connecting with the living presence/energy of the plant kingdom and other dimensions of the non-human natural world. What you see here - a spontaneous dialog with my friend and co-teacher Pamela Turczyn as we were preparing for this Sunday's offering (see comments below) offers a good reflection of the integration I'm exploring between the work I do in the treatment room with individuals - supporting them in aligning with their deepest embodied selves - and with a central part of my personal practice - and thus marks a major step forward in the evolution of my 30+ years supporting people on their healing journeys. Check it out - let me know how it touches you....

Great sounding class, very congruent with my own work, from my colleague Daniel Rindler at Brooklyn Feldenkrais. Daniel writes: " As you explore the gentle, meditative movements of the Feldenkrais Method, you will gain a new awareness of your body and refine your ability to find support from the ground. As your posture and movement become more refined, your experience of bodily sensations can begin to shift from amplifying difficult emotions to a valuable resource to tap into in difficult times."
