🎭 Fiasco Theater Rehearsing Shakespeare Intensive 🎭
July 8-10 in Saratoga Springs, NY - FREE!

This intensive is a primer on Fiasco’s approach for rehearsing classical texts most efficiently, effectively and joyfully. Students will work on monologues and scenes to explore text and voice work, approaches to rehearsing verse and prose and leave with tools for how to prepare as an individual and how to rehearse as an ensemble.
Location: Saratoga Springs, NY.
Intensive Schedule: Monday, July 8 to Wednesday, July 10 from 9:30-12:30pm (3 mornings total).
Cost: Registration is free! Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation, housing, and meals.
Registration: Rolling registration will be open until Sunday, June 30th or until spots are filled.

We’ll explore how the practice of embodied communication becomes a generative cycle for both artist and audience. About this workshop: It takes practice and courage to allow oneself to exist truthfully under imaginary circumstances. We must first get out of our own way and allow our impulses to shine bright. That means inhaling the given circumstances of the world and allowing your response to ride on the exhale. In this workshop, we’ll move through a series of exercises designed to bring awareness to the breath and begin the journey of releasing unhelpful habits that intrude upon our personal and artistic lives. We will learn how breathing is not only necessary but required to exist truthfully on stage, screen, and everywhere in between.

All performances of Fiasco Theater’s Pericles will have closed captioning available on any personal smart device, made possible by GlobeTitles. Patrons will be given a URL and access to free WiFi in order to follow along on their own devices. Additionally, the production will have two open captioned performances on Monday March 18 at 7pm and Tuesday March 19 at 7pm.

Paco Tolson is taking over Fiasco Theater's Instagram this Friday, taking us inside the rehearsal room for Fiasco Theater's PERICLES at CSC.
Paco has graced many a New York City-stage, so you've probably seen him. Most recently, he appeared in THE KNIGHT OF THE BURNING PESTLE with Fiasco and POOR YELLA REDNECKS at Manhattan Theatre Club — and he’s back onstage for PERICLES at Classic Stage Company, starting February 8th!

Fiasco Theater
FIASCO THEATER is an ensemble that offers dynamic, joyful, actor-driven productions of plays and musicals. Fiasco’s artists believe the performer, the text, and the audience’s imagination are the primary elements required to create great theater. Past shows include Cymbeline (TFANA/Barrow Street), Into the Woods (Roundabout, Old Globe, McCarter), Measure for Measure (New Victory, Long Wharf), The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Folger, TFANA), The Imaginary Invalid (Old Globe) and Twelfth Night (Classic Stage Company). Cymbeline was presented Off-Broadway twice, for nearly 200 performances, and was honored with the 2012 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for best revival. Into the Woods garnered the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival. Into the Woods went on to play the Menier Chocolate Factory in London, and the 2016-17 national tour won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Visiting Production and LA Drama Critics Circle Awards for Best Direction and Best Ensemble. Every year, Fiasco offers the Free Training Initiative—a three-week, conservatory-level classical acting intensive for professional actors, completely free of charge to students. Fiasco’s work has been commissioned by the Old Globe and they have been in residence with TFANA, Duke University, Marquette University and LSU. They are currently in residence with Roundabout and NYU-Gallatin. Their work has been developed at the Sundance Theatre Lab, the Orchard Project, SPACE at Ryder Farm and the Shakespeare Society, and they have led master classes at Brown University and NYU. Fiasco Theater receives generous support from Howard Gilman Foundation, SHS Foundation, Lucille Lortel Foundation, Actors Equity Foundation, The Harold & Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, New York State Council on the Arts and The Shubert Foundation.
