Brooks 1890 - 2020 | 130 Years of Legacy.
Brooks 1890 is a family restaurant with a welcoming bar, serving Italian & American comfort food in a historic space with original decor to go with great brews and mixed drinks, imparted to great companions.
First registered as the Long Island City Hall in 1890 and converted into a tavern around 1910 - Kleefeld’s saloon - owned by Martin Heilbut and Herman Kleefeld as the H&K initials in stained glass decor indicates, the location became Court Square Restaurant in 1920, a century ago.
In 1970, Bill “Brooks” purchased the location, which first added his name to the business and ran the site as a bar only.
Two old-time childhood friends Gennaro Romano (in memory) and Luca DiPalo decided to partner with Julio Silvestro (all immigrated from Italy) to purchase the location and renovate into a restaurant bar in 2009.
