Spotlighting our AAPI chefs and owners for the new lunar year. Bryan Gunton bought this sign for his new successful Sunnyside restaurant Zen Yai.
He was close to signing a deal to open a second one when one of Sunnyside’s biggest fires burned the first one down along with many other stores and shops.
Bryan and his partner decided to push on and open the second one in Williamsburg while opening at Essex Market (and now Elmhurst).
Bryan held on to his Sunnyside sign no matter where the location of his restaurants. Zen Yai is now in Williamsburg.
