Written by Emmy Award nominee Leslye Headland and directed by Trip Cullman (), Cult of Love follows the four adult Dahl children as they return to their family home with their partners in tow. The Dahl traditions include singing carols in harmony at the drop of a hat, but the gathering is anything but harmonious. Old conflicts resurface, new issues are battled, and dinner is taking absolutely forever to be served. An equally heartwarming and heartbreaking new play, Cult of Love is about the things that bind families together...or tear them apart.

In the near future, Stella (Emmy Rossum) and her fiancé, Bryan (Motell Foster), are waiting at their remote cabin for Stella’s estranged twin sister, Cassie (Zoë Winters.) Raised by their astronaut father to be NASA scientists, the twins have taken different paths: Cassie has just returned from a successful moon mission, while Stella has left NASA behind. When they reunite, old conflicts reignite, forcing the sisters to choose between staying on Earth or pursuing a future in space, as humanity’s fate hangs in the balance.

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Evan Cabnet as the incoming Artistic Director at Second Stage! He succeeds founding Artistic Director Carole Rothman; “and it’s my hope, it’s my task, it’s my dream to uphold and honor [her] legacy. The mission will remain the same.” Evan will program his first season in 2025/26, following Interim Artistic Director Bennett Leak's upcoming season of two Broadway and three Off-Broadway productions.
