Our newest UES project took inspiration from nordic design by combining practical design solutions with natural materials. The open chef’s kitchen uses minimal lines and warm, light-toned wood to anchor the apartment, becoming a centerpiece for family meals. The kitchen peninsula is finished with a fluted white oak and an extra pipe was added next to the permanent stovetop gas line, taking inspiration from Alvar Aalto.

Circa 2010 we did this cottage project at our NYC client’s country property in Connecticut. As pleased as we are with the project, our building of our long and productive relationship (5 projects and counting) with such wonderful humans is our proudest achievement. Thank you 💚

At dMAD we believe that great collaborations generate great results. Having done many projects over the years with the A-list interior design firm Pappas Miron Design , helping principal Zan Pappas , design her new home in Greenwich Village was especially rewarding. Her gut renovation of this early post-war apartment building unit was envisioned as a sophisticated European abode. Inspiration was found in northern Italian design elements and soft Mediterranean finishes in order to accentuate the apartment’s classic Bauhaus lines. The results have been beautifully captured in the August 2021 print edition and online -
