One of the three marks of existence is impermanence. We can see this strongly in the change of seasons, especially fall.
How the leaves that once fluttered on branches now gather and ground!
They will fertilize the “natures first green” next year and I’m reminded of the poem by Robert Frost: ‘Nothing Gold Can Stay.’
“Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”
Indeed.
