Not just for esthetics (though of course it helps), reestablishing anterior guidance for this patient will help protect and preserve the teeth and restorations.

I’ve been working towards receiving this email for nearly 10 years. I’m proud of this accomplishment and eternally grateful to those who have supported me unconditionally, pushed me when I needed to be pushed and lifted me up when I felt like I just couldn’t do it. This is proof that the juice really is worth the squeeze 💪🍊😷

After these restorations were inserted, the patient said that she would be able to smile with confidence for the first time in her life 🥹

This is my “why.”

Preliminary ortho by . Excellent communication made this case go super smoothly. The patient didn’t have enough space for implants, so we opted for cantilevered restorations to replace her missing canines and some bonding on the upper front teeth to even everything out!

Sometimes, the smallest change can have a big impact 💥

We did a little bit of enameloplasty and bonding on a lower incisor to close a space that drove this patient crazy. And it was a quick and easy fix!

I love a good treatment. And this one only took 4 months to complete!

If you’ve been waiting to straighten your teeth, consider this your sign to get on it 😉

One peg lateral, one missing lateral and too many years in ortho treatment…

This college student had an retainer to replace his missing tooth, but when he would go out to eat with friends and had to remove it, he was constantly embarrassed by the space. To idealize proportions, we did 3 veneers with a distal cantilever off of the left central to replace the missing tooth. Not only was he thrilled to be done with the retainer, but he felt confident smiling with his new restorations.

When the person you match with on a dating app finally wants to meet in person… you get 8 veneers to boost your confidence. When it doesn’t work out, you do to straighten the bottom teeth so they match the top 🙌🏻

What if I told you the top and bottom pictures were taken only 18 months apart? The top teeth look like they belong to a 12 year old and the bottom to an adult!

This patient has a condition called amelogenesis imperfects where the enamel doesn’t form properly. It can lead to broken and decayed teeth from a very young age.

This patient was fortunate enough to have “temporary” veneers put on when he was 12, but he was going off to college and needed a smile to match.

Full mouth restorations were placed using eMax to restore health, function and a smile this 20 year old can be proud of!

When patients come see me looking for cosmetic work, I always want to understand their “why.” What’s motivating them to take this step now?

For this patient, his daughter was getting married and he wanted to feel confident in their family photos.

My “why” was seeing his smile when he saw his new veneers. What’s your why? It’s never too late to address it.

For all your restorative dental needs, prosthodontists are here to ensure that your smile is healthy, functional and beautiful. If you’ve got a broken tooth and are looking for a fix, a prosthodontist may be your best option! To find one in your area you can visit GoToAPro.org.

04/29/2022

Prosthodontists see a lot of diversity in the cases they treat. Occasionally, the injury to a tooth due to a fracture is so severe that the tooth cannot be restored. In these circumstances, the tooth will need to be extracted. Your prosthodontist may or may not do the surgical components of the treatment for you, but they are the specialists in replacing missing teeth. Options for replacement include an implant, a fixed bridge, or a removable prosthesis like a complete or partial denture.

04/28/2022

If you have an experience where you’ve broken a tooth, a prosthodontist may have the solution! If a large part of a tooth is broken or the remaining healthy tooth structure is not sufficient, a restoration such as an inlay, onlay, veneer, or crown may be an appropriate treatment. These restorations are fabricated in a dental laboratory and as prosthodontists, we receive extra training in communication with our laboratory counterparts.

04/27/2022

Another common cause for broken teeth is decay or caries. When an area of decay in a tooth gets large enough, it can undermine the existing tooth structure or filling, and break off. Cavities exist even when there’s no pain, so it’s important to visit your dentist regularly for checkups! Prosthodontists in particular are specialists in the replacement of missing tooth structure, so they’re the perfect specialist to see for advanced damage to teeth due to decay.

04/26/2022

Prosthodontists see many different cases of broken teeth. Many times, broken teeth occur as a result of an accident or injury to the face and/or mouth. Sometimes the damage is minimal and other times it requires involved procedures across several specialties of dentistry. A prosthodontist is able to work with a team of dental professionals to ensure you receive the proper care for your dental trauma.

04/25/2022

Have you ever broken a tooth? There are many different causes of broken teeth that prosthodontists see regularly. One common cause is bruxism - a condition that encompasses the involuntary grinding and clenching of teeth. Oftentimes, it can be related to times of increased stress, and it can occur without you even realizing it’s happening. Without intervention, it wears down the teeth and can cause teeth to chip on the edges or can even be so severe it fractures the tooth down to the root!

This week is National Prosthodontics Awareness Week (NPAW)! A prosthodontist is a dental specialist with several years of advanced training beyond dental school, who focuses on the restoration and replacement of damaged teeth and other oral or facial issues. Follow along this week as we walk you through a few reasons why teeth break and describe some of the options for treatment by a prosthodontist!

Because dentists need dental work sometimes too!

I had the pleasure of making a new same day crown for last week. Out with the (g)old crown, in with the new! 👑

02/03/2022

Top teeth tend to get all the glory, but sometimes tweaking the lowers can make all the difference. This patient didn’t like how jagged the edges of his lower front teeth looked when he spoke, so we made him four veneers for a natural result that blended seamlessly with the rest of his dentition. Ceramics by the talented .

Is there something bothering you about your smile? Let’s see what kind of magic we can make for you! ✨

The 67th annual weekend has come and gone and all I can say is WOW. The energy at the scientific sessions was palpable. The quality of the presentations was next level. It felt SO good to see friends and colleagues after this long hiatus. And the cherry on top for me was seeing all of the hard work come together while I got to honor as the next president of this prestigious academy.

A huge thank you to everyone who was involved and for the outpouring of support. We know it takes a village. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this one.

10/29/2021

This is one of those treatments that just makes you feel great when you can hand the patient the mirror at the end of the appointment. This gentleman had been walking around missing most of his upper teeth for years and finally decided it was time to do something about it. We removed the remaining upper teeth, placed 6 implants and placed this full arch temporary in one visit. It was a long one, but his smile at the end made it all worth it.

These 🔥 temporary beauties were made by none other than . Surgery by me 💁🏼‍♀️

This past week, I had the privilege of presenting virtually at the , along with .j.gibson and on “The Secret Life of Dentures”- we spoke all about delivering an excellent experience for patients and the sociology behind how patients care for their removable prostheses. A big thank you to to asking me to participate!

You can still catch the lecture on demand at the link in my bio.

👋 hey Facebook fam. It’s been a minute since I’ve been on here. Like so long that I had to reinstall my app to post this 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m not the best at documenting my treatments. I’m working on getting better. But I was able to get some before and after photos for this one! This patient needed 4 same day veneers to replace old, broken down, discolored ones. We were able to close the space between the front teeth (called a !) and redistribute sizing a bit to make better proportions.

Happy Monday, let’s get after it today 💪

Prosthodontists are dental specialists who utilize a variety of treatments to replace, restore, and renew your smile! This week we will be highlighting some implant related procedures that can help you smile again. An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and then has a restoration attached, which is what is visible when you smile.
