Such a joy to see the alum as they tower on in to hq! Alex in 2015 and 19 year old Alex now!! (He’s one of the two silhouettes on the baa logo and always made the most of the tools and trips and pets at baa! Thanks for dropping by!!! 🌺🫡🌺❤️
Thanks for the great pictures of our Thursday crew Onalee!
All hail the costume bin and those that bring it to life!
Thanks for hosting and touring our infrastructure crew last week. Third places like these are essential, and have saved and enriched thousands of lives. I got a little too choked up to talk about the aids crisis in the “once upon a time” Keith Haring bathroom mural installation but y’all should definitely make some time to show your teens “how to survive a plague” with many of the scenes being hosted at the center. NYC does a great job of honoring the dead from 9-11 but not so much with the whole generation we lost to AIDS. It’s important to tell these stories.
Our Friday infrastructure crew “the works” is currently studying “third places” the places that are not home or school/work. One of NYC’s most important third places has always been Coney Island. (Especially before the advent of air conditioning and TV) I didn’t get any pictures of our pastries from Brighton, or riding the Cyclone (obviously) but truly this spit of sand that I visit almost weekly, is one of the most important things in my mental health maintenance tool kit—and is so for generations of New Yorkers. All hail the peoples beach!
