Are you an immigrant artist based in the New York City Area looking to build your arts community and seeking more opportunities for 1-on-1 support?
Come learn about the NYFA Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program for Visual and Multidisciplinary Artists 2025. Staten Island-based alumni artists will share more about their experiences as mentors and mentees, and NYFA staff will provide an overview of the program and insights into the panel selection process.
You will also get to connect with staff from Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art and Staten Island Arts and learn about other resources for immigrant artists that NYFA offers.
This event will be held in-person at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor on October 1st, 2024 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM ET.

A.R.T./New York is thrilled to announce the opening of the FY25 Grants season with the launch of their Fall Grants! 💸
A.R.T./New York provides grants to theatres of all sizes throughout the year as part of their mission to support theatre companies and artists in realizing rich artistic visions and serving their diverse audiences well.
The Creative Opportunity Fund provides general operating support grants of $2,000-$5,000 to small professional theatres with budgets under $500,000 working throughout New York State.
In partnership with the Howard Gilman Foundation, the New York City Small Theatres Fund is a two-year general operating support grant to New York City-based theatre companies with annual budgets below $250,000. The fund provides multi-year grant awards between $7,500-$10,000 each year, with a granting period between July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2027.

Materials for the Arts () is pleased to share information regarding an important opportunity for artists. The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs () is accepting applications for the 2024-2025 cycle of the Public Artists in Residence (PAIR) program.
Based on the idea that artists are creative problem-solvers, PAIR embeds artists in City agencies to propose and implement solutions to pressing civic challenges. The residency provides artists with $40,000 in funding. Selected artists will have demonstrated experience in socially engaged art or collaborative art practice addressing social and political issues relevant to the host agency.

Looking for funding to activate a local park or open space?
The NYC Green Fund Grassroots grant program will provide funding support from $1,000 to $40,000 per year along with the option of two-year funding for returning grantees to better sustain projects long-term.
The NYC Green Fund Grassroots grant program is intended to advance the viability of grassroots initiatives across parks and open spaces in all five boroughs and to foster a resilient network of equitable, public green spaces.

On Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th, you can join Staten Island-based healing practitioners at Snug Harbor () for a full weekend of art & wellness activities. Each day will feature gentle yoga classes led by BE YOGA & DANCE (); African Dance classes by Miss Cheryl's Dance Company (); and a Black Women's Healing Circle led by Somaliah Williams ().

July 19th, 2024 marks 10 years since Eric Garner was killed in Staten Island by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo.
The Ritual of Breath Is the Rite to Resist () is a response to the senseless murder and focuses on Eric Garner's daughter, Erica.
The outdoor opera takes place at Lincoln Center () on July 19th and is free and open to the public.

Tomorrow from 12:30PM-1:30PM you can visit the Arrochar Senior Center for All You Need Is Love. The showcase will be a presentation of love songs led by SU-CASA artist-in-residence Carolyn Clark.
In the past weeks, Arrochar seniors have explored songs about all kinds of love--romance, friendship, family, love for certain places and things, even love of coffee!
Please get out and support them in their lovely showcase as it's free and open to the public! No RSVP is required.
We are proud to be a civic partner for — a chamber opera-theater work that responds to the murder of Eric Garner and the ongoing loss of Black life at the hands of authorities.
Throughout the summer leading to the opera, we will be co-hosting community activations across New York City. Many of these events are anchored in Staten Island, where Eric Garner lived and died.
These activations will speak to the root causes of systemic injustice that impacted the lives of Eric Garner and his daughter Erica, and offer Black and non-Black communities alike spaces to center collective wellness, ancestral healing and an ongoing commitment to the value and sanctity of Black lives.
We encourage our community to come to Tompkinsville Park from 5:00pm-8:00pm EST for SAFE IN THE CITY: Summer Celebration. The festival will feature DJs, vendors, art exhibitions, and a performance by ! 🎸

Call for Panelists – Paid Opportunity
Staten Island Arts is looking for community grant panelists with a background in music, theater, and/or dance for our Spring Grant opportunities currently available to the public.
Grant panelists, at their own pace, carefully review and score grant proposals online based on predetermined evaluation criteria, then meet as a group in person to discuss proposals, scores, and to make final award selections in each of the following grant categories:
Howard Gilman Performing Artist Residency Cohort Grants: for individual performing artists across dance, theater, and music, from traditional practices to contemporary performance, at any stage of their career. This grant opportunity establishes a diverse group of 10 performing artists to further their creative practice through a 6-month cohort model including monthly cohort meetings and professional development support.
Mertz Gilmore Dance Research Grants: for dance artists, dance collectives, or dance nonprofits at any stage of their career. This new grant opportunity supports the research and development of a new dance work.
The panel will be held on Saturday, June 22, 12pm - 5pm at the SI Arts office, 25 Hyatt Street, in St. George. Panelists will be paid $400 for their service.
Interested panelists should fill out our panelist nomination form by Friday, May 10.

Staten Island Arts wants to see the arts community on Staten Island grow! We're here to help fund art projects, to give technical assistance, and to create a stronger, more united arts community by providing:
• Grant & Award Programs for individual artists, artist collaborations, folk arts, organizations and schools.
• Free One-on-One Technical Assistance and Professional Development Workshops designed to help artists, artist educators and organizations grow in their disciplines and in their ability to provide art services to the community.
• Arts-in-Education support and direct programs to schools pre-K through 12. Support includes re-grants and a Staten Island Teaching Artist Institute that offers training for new and experienced teaching artists.
• Folk Life field work, technical assistance, and public programming with heritage bearers from longstanding and new immigrant communities on Staten Island.
• Networking, Artist Registry and Artist Opportunities for Staten Island artists and arts organizations.
• Weekly Events E-mail Blasts that offer a comprehensive calendar listing of Staten Island cultural activities.
