Congratulations, Molly! Bloomberg Law has named Molly Bowen, a partner in our Securities Litigation & Investor Protection practice, a winner of its 2024 “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40” award. The annual award recognizes the accomplishments of stellar young lawyers nationwide.
Notably, Molly is the only litigator and one of two -side lawyers to win this award.
Molly was selected, in part, for her role in In re Wells Fargo Securities Litigation, a major securities which resulted in a landmark $1 billion settlement—the largest securities class action settlement of 2023 and largest ever not involving a restatement or parallel enforcement action by the SEC or DOJ. Molly played a significant role in the team’s successful opposition to motion to dismiss, oversaw discovery, and worked closely with experts on plaintiffs’ damages theory, which involved novel questions about market volatility during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She also played a pivotal role in the FirstEnergy’s derivative litigation, stemming from the company’s involvement in a major bribery scandal. The case was hard-fought. Ultimately, the team recovered $180 million for the company plus historic corporate governance reforms, including six directors departing and active board oversight of political spending and lobbying.

Congratulations Agnieszka and the Human Rights Team! Agnieszka Fryszman, chair of our Human Rights practice, and her small but dedicated team won Public Justice’s Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for their achievement in Doe I, et al, v. ExxonMobil Corporation. Annually, the award is presented to the attorney(s) who made the greatest contribution to the public interest by trying or settling a precedent-setting, socially significant case in the past year.
After 22 years of litigation, Agnieszka and her team succeeded in holding ExxonMobil accountable for violations committed by its security contractors in the remote village of Aceh, Indonesia. The courage of the villagers who brought the lawsuit against ExxonMobil is beyond remarkable. The litigation itself is a tremendous achievement and is sure to be studied in law schools for years to come, as it was part of a first wave of cases filed under the Alien Tort Statute. This case also exemplifies our firm’s commitment to our clients.
Led by Agnieszka, the John Doe I v. ExxonMobil team has included over the past 22 years renowned human rights and appellate attorneys, including Paul L. Hoffman from Schonbrun Seplow Harris Hoffman & Zeldes LLP, Terry Collingsworth from International Rights Advocates, and Anthony DiCaprio from DiCaprio ADR, as well as dozens of Cohen Milstein attorneys, including Leslie Kroeger, Kit Pierson, Robert Cobbs, Nicholas Jacques, Poorad Razavi, Sharon Robertson, Nada Sulaiman, and several Human Rights fellows.
