Caronte, el barquero, se niega a conducir la barca que transporta a Agamenon, el tirano que lidero la guerra contra Troya y sacrifico a su hija Ifigenia en un afan ciego de poder, Clitemnestra, esposa adultera, asesino a Agamenon en complicidad con su amante Egisto, Elektra, no pudo elegir libremente su destino. La barca esta detenida porque no quieren reconocer su condicion de mu***os, requisito indispensable para el cruce a la otra orilla y poder alcanzar la inmortalidad. Una traspolacion del mito griego a los orishas afrocubanos que a su vez transmutan en ‘estado de fluidez’ en esta ceremonia ritualista con el medium – ejecutante. Solo Orestes, logra escapar con su hermana Elektra en una barca de remos y dar el salto hacia la Luz en la busqueda de la Libertad personal. Los otros quedan atrapados en los viejos conflictos que aun persisten en la sociedad actual.

A theatrical experience of Music and dance inspired by Federico Garcia Lorca’s Spirit. FEDERICO G. LORCA (1898-1936)
The Universe of Garcia Lorca will guide this performance into the dances, poems and songs from the traditional Spanish songbook.
This performance shows a diverse variety of Spanish dances such as escuela bolera, stylized dance, flamenco and folklore dance that represents a wide artistic spectrum in this field. The audience will appreciate a lot of cultural Spanish items such as classical castanets, folk castanets, Spanish fan, mantón de manila or bata de cola.
The powerful music played by guitar, piano, percusion, flute and voice shows the Spanish roots as well as more modern expressions that come from the tradition. This experience will transport the viewer to a special trip to Spain full of emotion, beauty and passion.

The main reason is LATEA is once again joining our sister theaters Repertorio, IATI, Teatro SEA, Pregones/PRTT, INTAR, Thalia Spanish Theater and Teatro Circulo to hold TEATRO Fest NYC 2024.
LATEA will kick off the the 2024 edition of Teatro Fest NYC on Thursday, March 14 with a dialogue seeking to build a bridge between Latino theater on both coasts of the United States.

describes her work: “My art addresses social tensions, emphasizing racial and gender differences. My work depicts images of female figures. Likewise, the composition alludes to the stress caused by the opposition between conventionalism and the forced masks imposed by traditional stereotypes...From my childhood memories I am able to construct my discourse through images that are present in the culture that I grew up in. All the iconography- patterns -colors to which I was exposed to are making their way back to my canvas.”
is a visual artist of Afro-Puerto Rican descent who lives in East Harlem and works in the Bronx. Inspired by anatomy, life cycles and the natural world, she creates artworks evocative of growth, sexual activity, death and decay, love and loss, pain and pleasure. Her works have been included in group exhibitions that explore female identity, the body, racism, gender politics, and colonialism at group exhibitions in New York, California, and Puerto Rico
