Former NYAC Junior Swim Team member and current Gold Medal Olympian Kate Douglass stopped by the Olympic Lounge this morning for a meet and greet with the 2024 TI Junior Swim Team where she answered questions and talked about her experiences in Paris and her journey to becoming an Olympian. 🥇

In July 2021, Dewayne started his career in the Travers Island kitchen as a Utility-Steward. At the time, Dewayne was hired for the summer season but shortly after he was offered a full-time position. Dewayne is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the TI Kitchen which includes dishes, glassware, and other kitchen operating equipment. He is a great asset to the TI Kitchen and Stewarding Team, and we are pleased to honor him as the Champion of the Month for June. Please join us in congratulating Dewayne!

Last night marked the 67th year of the 25 Year Club Dinner. This Club comprises NYAC’s honored employees who diligently worked for the New York Athletic Club for 25+ years. Congratulations to this year’s inductees Robert Alvaro Contreras, John Fischer, Ilya Marku, Franklin Joaquin and Robert Serrano. In addition to the new inductees, the dinner was attended by existing 25 Year Club members as well as members of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee.

On the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, we remember and honor the countless Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice
on June 6th, 1944 to defend the freedoms that we enjoy to this day. The historic day was memorialized through the poignant July 1944 Winged Foot cover, drawn by cartoonist Robert Ripley, depicting a soldier en route to the beaches of Normandy with the assistance of winged feet.

In October 2022, Vilma started her career with the NYAC in the Accounting Department and brings with her over 30 years of accounting experience. A few of her responsibilities include but not limited to posting receivables, banquet billings, banquet gratuities, processing debits and credits, charge offs, and inventory. The Solarium officially opens for the season today at 5pm, offering unparalleled views of Central Park from the City House rooftop. Sip on exquisite cocktails while soaking in the stunning scenery. 🍹

Honoring the fallen, the American Legion held a poignant Wreath Ceremony in the City House lobby for Memorial Day, remembering the sacrifices that shaped our freedom.

On Tuesday, May 14th, the NYAC held the 2024 Winged Foot Award banquet, in what was an unforgettable evening at the City House. This year’s honorees were Dan Hurley (UConn) and Dawn Staley (South Carolina), the winning coaches from the men’s and women’s NCAA Division I basketball tournaments.

Tomasz started with the NYAC in June 2015 as a Laundry Washer, and he is a great asset to the Laundry Department. He assists with all the laundry needs for Overnight Guest Rooms, Athletics, Food & Beverage, Aquatics, and Housekeeping. This works out to be about 20 bins of laundry every day! Last night was truly special. Our NYAC team had the privilege of volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, where we prepared and served meals to families focused on their child's health and recovery. It's more than just a meal; it's a gesture of care and support, allowing families to concentrate on what's most important: their child's well-being. Proud to be part of this heartwarming effort. ❤️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🍲

Yesterday, the Christmas Interlude brought the magic of the holiday season to the City House. Christmas cheer was plentiful as children met Santa, decorated gingerbread houses, listened to joyful Christmas carolers, and more.

We are kicking off the first day of December at Travers Island, where the holiday spirit comes to life as the Christmas tree is adorned with twinkling lights and festive cheer. 🎄✨
