Amazon Labor Union members at JFK8 will vote Saturday, Sunday and Monday in an election to approve affiliating with the Teamsters as IBT-ALU Local 1. Let's build solidarity and bring union power to Amazon!

TEAMSTERS LOCAL 804 PENSION UPDATE

Local 804 and UPS Trustees formally agreed to a $470 pension increase to the Local 804 Pension Plan.

The 25 year - Over 55 pension will increase by 10% from $4,700 to $5,170.
The 25 years of service pension will increase by 10% from $4,200 to $4,620.

In the last five and a half years, there have been a total of $1,170 in pension improvements to the max pension, plus a $20 dollar improvement to the accrual rate, which translates to a $200 dollar improvement. That’s $1,370 in increases across the board!

The pension improvement goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2025, which means that at least one compensatory hour must be worked in January.

April and May are shop steward election season. Every dues paying member should know who their steward is and what their role is. Your stewards work hard to protect and support you, but they too must do their share.

Local 804 members turned out to Albany to advocate for the TEMP Bill and the Warehouse Worker Protection Act!

The TEMP Bill would set statewide standards for heat safety to protect workers like UPS drivers who work outdoors in high temperatures.

The Warehouse Worker Protection Act would protect warehouse workers from unsafe speed-up and production quotas that increase risk of injury on the job.

Whether in Albany or on the shop floor from Melville to Maspeth, we're standing united to fight back against corporate greed and build Teamster power.

WALKOUT AT MASPETH AMAZON WAREHOUSE

Local 804 Teamsters joined Amazon workers as they walked out of an Amazon warehouse in Maspeth this morning. The Amazon workers are demanding raises to $26 an hour, $2 hourly peak season pay increases, safe staffing, winter clothing for delivery drivers, and recognition of drivers like the Palmdale Teamsters as Amazon employees. Solidarity with these brave Amazon workers — Local 804’s got your back!

Wishing all our members a happy and safe Thanksgiving! We're giving thanks for every member who builds our union and fights for worker power.

In an insult to every part-timer, the company says it will not pay double time to part-timers who work on Black Friday.

Black Friday is a holiday and part-timers will receive holiday pay if they do not work on Friday, as long as you work two days during the week. Part-timers who are absent all week on an excused absence (FMLA, comp, vacation, etc.) are also eligible for holiday pay.)

But part-timers who work on Friday will not receive holiday pay, according to the company.

This is a slap in the face to every part-timer. Local 804 is taking on this contract violation through the grievance procedure.

In the meantime, here is what every part-timer needs to know:

1) Black Friday is a paid holiday
2) You cannot be forced to work on Black Friday
3) The company will not pay you holiday pay if you work on Black Friday.

You will be paid holiday pay if you do not work on Black Friday as long as you work two other days in the week.

Get your holiday pay. Teamsters don’t work for free.
