I have a passion for helping people while fostering community, creativity, and positive change.
I carve out time to promote creativity and foster cultural exchange. As a theatre maker, I combine words, music & movement to tell a story where each discipline can take the reins of storytelling, and where they can come together in new ways to cross thresholds of understanding.
Breaking News! The National Parkinson's Project becomes law!
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, President Biden signed into law:
H.R. 2365, the “Dr. Emmanuel Bilirakis and Honorable Jennifer Wexton National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act,” which requires the Department of Health and Human Services to develop and evaluate progress on a government-wide plan to address Parkinson’s and related diseases, and to require the convening of a Parkinson’s advisory committee.
Big thanks to Representatives Bilirakis, Tonko, and Wexton, and Senators Capito and Murphy for their leadership! It's been a pleasure being able to connect with my Representatives in NJ too -- from Rep. Tom Kean to Sen. Booker -- THANK YOU for cosponsoring and standing up for the 29,000 people living with Parkinson's in NJ alone. I'm so proud to know this bipartisan bill made it all the way to President Biden's desk.
Finally, I want to thank the Policy Team The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research -- your alacrity and advocacy is unparalleled. I'm so happy to be part of your grassroots team!

People with Parkinson's Disease are learning to dance in the studios of Canada's National Ballet School, a world-renowned dance training facility. Film Director Karen Suzuki, in partnership with neuroscientist Joseph DeSouza, utilizes animation to show what happens in the brain of a dance student with Parkinson's.
“When they are moving to the music, they sometimes forget they have Parkinson’s.” – Joseph DeSouza 🤍

Such a refreshing take on this man’s legacy. I’ve been to those “showings” at the end of residencies and have relished in the conversations between artists and audiences. Always an intimate and illuminating experience. Keep up the good work, Misha!

“This book is hard at times. It talks about hard things, but it’s also hard to put down. There’s a gentleness to it too though, along with a shameless honesty that keeps you there, aware of your openness and willingness to settle in, that allows you to enjoy the ride...”

Theatre Maker
I make documentary style theater with a social impact. Utilizing movement, music & words to tell a story where each discipline can take the reins of storytelling, along with immersive theatre techniques, I hope to bring an audience closer to a story by curating a cross-pollination of performance techniques within a theatrical experience, where they can come together in a new way to cross thresholds of understanding. I try to shine a light on stories that are not often told, or sometimes misunderstood.

Through the support of The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation, with the New York Foundation for the Arts I was 1 in 12 artists to be chosen for the 2018 NYFA Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program: Social Practice. I'm so proud to share my heritage in this way. I'm so blessed to be steeped in the cultures of my parents and ancestors. I feel that I am a cumulative compound mixture of their hard work and talents.
This program is designed as a professional development program for immigrant and 1st-generation artists working in all forms of socially engaged art (including, but not limited to, public and community engagement and advocacy around issues of environment and climate change, immigration, race, gender, and social justice).
