These folks all rocked their Manners! New round of Manners 1 starting in September.
🎓Congratulations to our amazing doggy graduates and their dedicated pet parents for completing PumpkinPups Manners One online class, taught by the fantastic Kizz Robinson ( )! 🎉 Your hard work and commitment over the past 6 weeks have paid off. Here’s to stronger bonds, better communication, and many more happy adventures together! 🐾👏
I hung out with “Hamboni Tony” of last week. He was excited to see me then so concentrated working together. We ended up inside, recovering from a surprise we had in the backyard. He’s a slobbery, sweet gem!
We talk all the time about setting dogs up for success with training. That training is completely dependent on the client's ability to implement it. It is the job of the training professional to craft a plan that is doable even if it is not ideal. If the client then has success they will be more likely to continue and to be able to add components to the plan! That's how positive reinforcement works.
Don't yip or yell at puppies, y'all. Turns out it doesn't help.
My 4th of July tips made pretty by PumpkinPups Dog Training!
With Memorial Day weekend come extra chicken bones, hot dogs, and my dog’s favorite - bagels! - on the streets and in the parks. Time to get proactive and prepared for less frustration and no ER visits this holiday!
Looks like fun, right? I think it was fun for the human on the unicycle. You know who it wasn’t fun for? The dog. He wasn’t sure where to go and kept getting nearly bowled over by the cycle and had to dodge other humans in a confusing way as the person cycled through them making his own path. There are so many fun things to do with our dogs. Please pick things that your dog thinks is fun, too.
For all of you working on separation issues with your dogs, this is what success looked like for me today. I left Watson home alone for about 4.5 hours and I didn’t check the camera or have a back up plan for him. He seems to have slept almost the whole time I was gone. He was happy when I got home but relaxed in the other room while I washed my face and now he’s curled up like this. Our next goal is for him to be able to be alone long enough that I could do dinner AND a show, tonight was only the show. I’m hopeful!
I had some fantastic human company while I was on eclipse watch but on this account the canine company rules. This was the first time I got to meet Fiona and she was even more wonderful than I expected, and I expected that she’d be pretty spectacular. She is a super fun gal and I can’t wait to see her again!
Happy International Women's Day! I'm grateful to work with these women and all the other women who support our work.
Honoring the wisdom and compassion for animals of our PumpkinPups trainers and all the ther women trainers and furmoms out there. Happy International Women's Day!
When you put multiple dog trainers in a car with a dog, funny stuff happens.

I'm really committed to the good that virtual training can do for all of us.
At PumpkinPups we believe that there are great advantages to holding Puppy Classes on a virtual platform. The advantages to the virtual classes are practicing all the very important behaviors without distractions so you and your pup can get it right the first time, individualized attention for each team, time to ask questions after class while your puppy chews on a toy, homework, recordings of the classes, email support between classes and more!
Read more about it in our blog. Click the QR code in the image to read the article!
Join some of our trainers as they hold a puppy social at Dogtopia, Myrtle Ave. on Feb. 24, 1-1:45 PM! Puppies 6 months and under are FREE to join, just bring their vaccination records. See you there!
Proud to be a member of this team. I think this is our 4th consecutive year with this title.
It’s been quite a week. When I was interviewed for this article (thanks to a recommendation from ) I thought it was going to be a digital only article. No one told me that, I just assumed for some reason. When they sent a photographer I thought that was nice and wondered if it would be a carousel of photos on the digital edition of the . So when the article came out in the Sunday Style Section I was surprised and excited! I never expected to be in the Sunday Times, much less have my dog in it with me.
Folks have been coming across it each day and reaching out to me on social media, by email, at holiday gatherings, and in one notable moment, on the street. A very long time friend of mine, someone I used to date, said, “What’s the article about?” When I told him he said, “Huh, that’s the least interesting thing about you.”
It’s true, being single and having pets isn’t that unusual. Certainly the outpouring of supportive comments would support that. I like my life and, even if one of the experts in the article doesn’t believe it, I do get out in the world a whole lot. I hope that the takeaway from the article was that the perfect life FOR YOU can look however you want it to look.
Thank you to everyone that saw the article, shared it on social media, and told all their friends about it. Please keep passing the word!
Many of you have reached out for more training, which is the greatest! Being in The NY Times is fun but the real fun is working with dogs and their people so book your sessions now, there are a few spots left to end your dog’s year on a high note!
It's not about dog training but it is about dogs! And people. I was featured in the NY Times!
