Spring Day Lawn Bowling

Spring Day Lawn Bowling was enjoyed by 20 + people partaking in sandwiches and ice cream sundaes on a fabulous spring day on the green. Bowling competition was held, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners received prizes. In addition, there was a Ladies Spring Hat competition. A few extra’s non-bowling attendees were there to enjoy and cheer on the competition.

Rory Alexander, age 9 had an amazing day lawn bowling and was on the second-place team. She is a 6th grade student at Newport Coast Elementary. Diane Wenzel, Board Member, was the winner of the Ladies Hat Contest and received a gift card donated by Bello by Sandro Nardone in Newport Beach. The event was organized and run by Board Member, Aileen Broccardo.

We held our annual Newport Harbor Classic (mixed Triples) event on a cool and cloudy Sunday. 18 teams competed with some terrific hospitality provided. Huge thanks to all the bowlers and volunteers who came out to make for a great day of bowls.

We’re so proud of our bowlers, Anne Nunes and Charlie Herbert for representing the US in New Zealand these past days.

Anne made a terrific run to the Semi-Finals and came up just behind on a tie-break to the home bowler from New Zealand.

Great effort all around and the commentators voiced their sincere appreciation for both bowlers playing so competitively throughout.
