law enforcement professionals. Post 32 provides educational training programs on the purposes, mission, and objectives of the Sheriff’s Office and various law enforcement agencies. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement, particularly the Sheriff’s Office, and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation. Post 32’s program highlights include: shadowing Sheriff Deputies, ride-a-longs, firearm safety training, forensic crime lab field trips, gang awareness, community service projects, and earning career achievement awards. The Newport News Exploring Program currently has six dedicated individuals enrolled in Post 32; and is actively seeking new members at this time. We ask for your help in the recruitment process by allowing us to share program information with youth groups you are familiar with or area schools. We will bring all necessary items, including applications and flyers, to each recruitment meeting. If anyone is interested in having us recruit at a particular school, please provide us with the name and point of contact, if possible. The program is open to all youth; however, we are interested in recruiting youths who will be dedicated and committed to the program. Please stress to potential recruits, the importance of good attendance and participation in community service.
