WHES getting ready for a surprise egg hunt this week. They don’t know about it. All they know is that they needed to decorate bags (although some figured it out, but said they would keep the secret. 👍🏻😉)

You are never too young to enjoy the simple things in life like a cup “phone.”

Many students at WHES never seen them before. They thought it was so cool how you could hear the other person with a simple cup and piece of yarn.

We discussed how the cup vibrates when you talk into it, and those vibrations carry to the other cup through the string.

Easy peasy STEM project.

Drills and Games with the YMCA Youth Basketball League today🏆🏀🥇

Thank you to the Rockland County Department of Health for helping to provide fun, gross motor activities for the YMCA Before & After School children during the winter months. This initiative was made possible through the New York State Creating Healthy Schools and Communities Grant.

❄️🌨❄️Due to the inclement weather today 1/9, here are the current YMCA after school progarm updates per district:

*Clarkstown & North Rockland- No YMCA After School programs today, buildings will be closed.

*Nyack, Pearl River, South Orangetown & Suffern- YMCA programs will run, but parents must pick up children by 5:00 pm or as soon as possible.

WHES kids having fun with a “life size” game called What’s Next. 😁

(It says “special needs” but it’s for all kids - just a few tiles that are different than the main set). 👍🏻

The weather outside might be “frightful” (Brrrr!), but the kids always find fun things to do together, including playing “restaurant.”

The children at WHES are coloring and making holiday cards to donate to a local nursing home. Still looking for Kwanzaa cards. 🕎🎅🏻❤️

Also, they were excited to see the first snow flakes of the season. ❄️🌨️

Pre-Halloween party at West Haverstraw Elem.

Pass the Pumpkin (Hot Potato), Freeze Dance, Punch Prize, Pin the Skull on the Skeleton, Pumpkin Toss, Scavenger Hunt, Guess How Many Gummy Bears and more!

Cupcakes, brownie bites, “monster juice” with zombie hand ice and LOTS of prizes and a goody bag. 🎃👻🍬🧁

The WHES kids had fun making puppets that resembled themselves (popsicle sticks were added after they dried). 😁
