Chosen2Lead's Christmas Fundraiser, organized by Mark Burks Will you join us in supporting some young black men in an excellent leadership program… Mark Burks needs your support for Chosen2Lead's Christmas Fundraiser
Will you join us in supporting some young black men in an excellent leadership program? I'm raising money to benefit the young black men in the Chosen 2 Lead youth program, and any donation will help make an impact. COVID-19 has placed this organization on pause, but we still want to show up for these young men this Christmas holiday by providing gifts to them in the form of gift cards through the funds raised. We appreciate any amount and have set our goal at $50 per young man. We would like to present them with the gifts at a partnering organizations event on December 17th. If we can raise the funds by December 13th, we'll have turn around time to make it happen . Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us. Link in bio
Join us in making this Christmas a special one for the boys of C2L. Be a blessing and give from the heart! It takes a village and you are a part of our community. We thank you all in advance!

RIP Colin Powell! We truly thank you for your years of service! 🙏🏾🙏🏾 ✊🏾
Both started on the same road coming from the same foundation. One decided to break the curse while the other got stuck in the curse. God gives us all choices. You must decide what you plan on doing with your opportunity. The choice is YOURS!!
Some ppl thinks it’s cool to live the street life, gain street cred and have/make a name for themselves. But this life will eventually lead to destruction. Not everyone can find or get jobs and depending on the crime you may never be free. This is why we here at C2L try to teach our young men to take a different route. Think twice before you react because you may never get that 2nd chance!
Level I: HUMILITY
Humility is not thinking (less) of yourself, but thinking of yourself (less)
"If you consider yourself to be wise and one who understands the ways of God, advertise it with a beautiful, fruitful life (guided) by wisdom’s (gentleness).
Never (brag) or (boast) about what (you’ve) done and you’ll prove that you’re truly wise."
James 3:13
It’s so easy to quit but where will that get you? We always complain about things being unfair instead of focusing on proving them wrong!
Parents please join us in congratulating Wolfgang Mundt on receiving an award from the NCBW100 this year. We are so very proud of you soldier!! Continue to keep up the great work!
A few days ago we lost one of our soldiers. Gone too soon! He was always so soft spoken, well mannered and made sure to give you a firm handshake that made you question why he tried to break your hand 🤣🤣 We will never forget you D! Thanks for being an example of a true leader and man of God. Your spirit will live on with us here in C2L. Thank you for being you! We all will miss you but know that we’ll have an opportunity to see you again one day! Love you D! ✊🏾💔
Had dinner the other night with one of my guys prior to him leaving for full time duty and pursing his goal and dream of becoming a surgeon. I’ve watched you grow up over the years and have been one of your biggest supporters. I pray that God covers you and keeps you every step of the way. As I’ve always told you I’m here whenever you need me! Safe travels! Love you and salute!
We haven’t let COVID stop us from connecting with the boys. So if your son isn’t already a part ask us how to
Garrett Augustus Morgan, Sr. (03/04/77 – 07/27/63) was an African-American inventor, businessman, and community leader. His most notable inventions were a three-position traffic signal and a smoke hood (a predecessor to the gas mask) notably used in a 1916 tunnel construction disaster rescue. Morgan also discovered and developed a chemical hair-processing and straightening solution. He created a successful company based on his hair product inventions along with a complete line of hair-care products, and became involved in the civic and political advancement of African-Americans, especially in and around Cleveland, Ohio.
Morgan experimented with a liquid that gave sewing machine needles a high polish that prevented the needle from burning fabric as it sewed. In 1905, Morgan accidentally discovered that the liquid could also straighten hair. He made the liquid into a cream and launched the G. A. Morgan Hair Refining Company to market it. He also made a black hair oil dye and invented a curved-tooth comb for hair straightening in 1910.
John Harold Johnson (01/19/18-08/08/05) was an American businessman and publisher. Johnson was the founder of the Johnson Publishing Company which is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Johnson's Ebony (1945) and Jet(1951–2014) magazines are among the most influential African-American businesses in media beginning in the second half of the twentieth century. In 1982, Johnson became the first African American to appear on the Forbes 400. In 1987, Johnson was named Black Enterprise Entrepreneur of the year.
Johnson was born in rural Arkansas City, Arkansasto Gertrude (nee Jenkins) and Leroy Johnson (d. 1926), the grandson of slaves. When he was six years old, his father died in a sawmill accident and Johnson was raised by his mother and his step father James Williams. Johnson attended an overcrowded and segregated elementary school. Such was his love of learning, he repeated the eighth grade rather than discontinue his education, as there was no public high school for African Americans in Arkansas City or anywhere else in Desha County.
Johnson began as an office boy at Supreme Life and within two years had become Pace's assistant. His duties included preparing a monthly digest of newspaper articles, with help from his publisher, "Madam DuBois." Johnson began to wonder if other people in the community might not enjoy the same type of service. He conceived of a publication patterned after Reader's Digest. His work at Supreme Life also gave him the opportunity to see the day-to-day operations of a business owned by an African American and fostered his dream of starting a business of his own.
