Marion County Children's Alliance
Our mission: Is to improve the lives of Marion County children. #children1stMCCA
The Marion County Children's Alliance works to serve as a neutral party convener, bringing together the key stake holders representing the 12 sectors of the community. We have various workgroups within the organization that center on improving the family and reducing the rate of children being removed from their homes. The workgroups focus on the top three reasons for child removal - Family Violence, Substance Use and Inadequate Supervision.

Teaching kids self-awareness and self-management is essential for their emotional and social development. By helping them understand their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, can empower them to make positive choices and navigate challenges effectively. Last week encouraged our little ones to practice mindfulness, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. Our hope it to help them build a strong foundation for lifelong success. We want to say thank you to the Public Education Foundation of Marion County for making it possible to continue our SKIP - Marion County mentoring program this summer.

Our focus last week during our Summer Resiliency program was learning what Gratitude and Empathy was and how our kiddos can apply those in their everyday lives. They learned what it means to walk in someone else's shoes and how they can express they are thankful to their parents, peers, school staff, etc. Each student was asked to paint a rock with inspirational words on it. They will placed them around the school for those that might need some extra love on a tough day.
Thank you Public Education Foundation of Marion County for allowing us to participate in your Resiliency initiative.
There are still a few spots open! The best part is you can do it from your computer and it’s FREE!

This picture is more than this young lady getting an award. It’s also about who showed up to support his daughter and capture the moment. Dads play a crucial role in their daughters' lives and showing up for them can have a lasting impact on their well-being and success.
This year we have really made an effort to work with our kiddos to help them understand the impact of their actions on others. Our -marion mentees created anti-bullying posters to place around the schools. Understanding what bullying is and how to be empathetic towards others will help them understand and connect with the feelings and perspectives of others.
❤️
We want to say a BIG Thank you to our wonderful after school tutors! These ladies don't clock out when the bell rings. They stay for hours after school tutoring our SKIP - Marion County kiddos as well. You all are amazing!

Often times in our SKIP - Marion County mentoring program our mentees form a special bond during their time together in small group! And sometimes when one is having a rough day a hug can make it all better.
Another school year has come to an end and we are so proud of our SKIP - Marion County mentee's for finishing strong!
Boxing teaches kids to get up after they've been knocked down both literally and metaphorically. This instills a sense of resilience that can help them navigate the ups and downs of life. They learn to handle defeat gracefully and view challenges as opportunities for growth.

Here are some tips for kids to prepare for a big test the night before:
1. Review and organize their notes and study materials.
2. Create a study schedule and prioritize the most important information.
3. Get a good night's sleep to ensure they are well-rested and focused on the day of the test.
4. Eat a healthy and balanced meal to fuel their brain.
5. Avoid cramming and instead focus on reviewing key concepts and practicing problem-solving.
6. Take short breaks to stay refreshed and avoid burnout.
7. Stay positive and confident in their abilities.
8. Visualize success and keep a positive attitude.
9. Have all necessary materials ready for the test day, such as pencils, calculators, or reference sheets.
10. Trust in their preparation and believe in themselves.
We hope to see you tomorrow! Lunch is on us!
We want to recognize these youth for doing a great job representing MARION COUNTY at the Circuit five CAB conference. They were apart of the teen panel that spoke about safety in our schools.
We love making after school tutoring fun! Who new you could paint and learn math concepts at the same time.
Our SKIP - Marion County mentees loved being able to take a brain break last week and get creative. Legos are good for kids because they encourage creativity, problem-solving skills, and fine motor skills. Playing with Legos also helps improve spatial awareness and can even promote teamwork and communication if kids build together. Additionally, building with Legos can boost confidence and a sense of accomplishment in children.
