We would like to ask our friends to keep a special friend of Gentle Carousel in your positive thoughts and prayers. Lynn is the event coordinator at the Ocala Downtown Market and has helped us with our reading programs for the past three years. In this photo she is at our first program of the summer with one of the veterans in our audience.
Lynn recently found out that she has Metastatic Adenocarcinoma Stage 4. Leave your prayers and kind thoughts for her and don't forget to tell Lynn where you are from!

We were going back through photos from this summer's reading programs and discovered that the little girl petting Moonshadow is wearing a shirt with Gentle Carousel horses on it! How sweet is that?

Hurricane Debby update.

All of our wonderful therapy horses and guardian dogs are safe and the storm has passed. Now need to work on trees down, clean up and fence repairs to do.

We are still without power and WiFi. Cell phone service comes and goes. There is a generator to pump water from the well for the horses and to keep things cold in the freezer.

We wish everyone safety in the aftermath of the storm especially first responders and those working on the power lines and our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones.

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Debby update: As of 2:45 pm the very slow storm is going over us. We are without power on the farm and have some trees down. No internet but our cell service just came back on. It is in and out.

We wish safety for everyone in the path of Hurricane Debby, both human and animals. The governor has declared a state of emergency for most of Florida because of the potential landfall of a storm that could become a "significant threat" with torrential rain and wind.

We are finishing the last of our preparations on the farm to keep the therapy horses and the guardian dogs as safe as possible while we keep watch on the weather.

Therapy horse Sweetheart at this summer's final Gentle Carousel's Reading With Horses literacy program at the Ocala Downtown Market.

Gentle Carousel has worked with over 3000 book lovers so far this summer inside libraries and at this wonderful location. The horses will soon be back in schools for the 2024-25 school year.

McCall Service

We are thankful for our Guardian Angel heroes.

Our team of Maremma sheepdog livestock guardian dogs all lined up shoulder to shoulder at our fence line yesterday to stay between the therapy horses they protect and coyotes spotted in a neighbor's field.

The coyotes have gone into one neighbor's barn and were on another neighbor's front porch when they returned home. They are always a danger and the Guardian Angels do amazing work to keep the horses safe. The reason we have eight Maremma sheepdogs is so they can work as a team and can all stay safe as well.
