Freedom didn’t come immediately for all. Even after the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, many remained enslaved in Confederate territories. In Texas, over 250,000 Black people were still in bo***ge until June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay and declared their freedom. This historic day is celebrated as Juneteenth. Let's honor this day of liberation and continue to support Black mental health and well-being.
