WELL SAID GIFT EXCHANGE
The Gift
• Print-out a photo of your gift (an eCard to a restaurant or retail store - or - an actual item on Amazon.com). Do NOT purchase the item before the party.
• Value of Gift Should be $20
• Tuck your photo in a holiday bag or a decorated box so it’s quick and easy to pull out (no wrapping paper and scotch tape, please)
• You will be responsible to remember who was the last person to steal your gift. After the party is over purchase the eCard or order the item on Amazon.com and have it delivered directly to the recipient’s email or physical address depending upon the item. If mailing to a physical address, you will have to ask the recipient for their mailing address after the party. Emails are available on the club schedule (I will try to keep track of the exchanges on a tally sheet as backup).
The Speech
• Deliver a description fun and enticing, without revealing what the actual gift is.
• You will have a maximum of 1 minute to give the sales speech for your gift. Yes, ONE MINUTE. You will have to choose your words wisely since your time is very limited. Just think, some advertisers only get 15-30 seconds to sell their product on TV. The Time Keeper will give you signals at • 30 seconds, • 45 seconds and • 60 seconds. (15 seconds grace time will be given to still qualify).
• The speech time is shortened to allow time for the exchanging all the awesome gifts and steeling of gifts.
• Make sure your camera is set up to view the gift and you during your speech.
The Game
• As you log onto the meeting on December 16th, you will be assign a number. This will determine the order participants will be picking the gifts in the gift exchange.
• We plan to do 2 steals per item, if time allows it. We may have to change to 1 steal if we start to run out of time.
Party Duty Holders
• Our Toastmaster will be Stephanie
• Barbara will be the Table Topics Master, coordinating the speeches and gift exchange
• No regularly scheduled Speakers or Speech Evaluators
• Other duties will still remain.
• Vote Counter: We will have a vote for the best 1-minute speech.
• Grammarian: will give a word for the day that fits with the theme of the holidays and gift exchange. It must be incorporated in your speech.
• Remember to watch your “Ahs”, . . . except for when you receive a cute gift.
Make yourself a “GRATITUDE JAR”
Set a goal to write down one thing you’re thankful for each day and add the slip to your gratitude jar.
Try to do this the same time every day, so it becomes a habit.
Appreciate small, ordinary moments. Do not put pressure on yourself looking for “Big Moments”.
Gratitude is not about creating, reaching or acquiring something you don’t yet have.
It’s appreciating what’s already there. It’s not a big thing, it’s the small wonders.
Choose a time to review all your gratitude slips, every week or once a month.
