We are so excited to welcome Dr. Alisha Jean-Denis as Dean of Equity, Inclusion and Belonging! Her focus this past month has been to listen, observe, and better understand the policies and practices of LILA as they pertain to DEI-related curriculum and pedagogy, parent/school partnerships and any incidents. Dr. Alisha is focusing on co-designing models that are sustainable and creating solutions to some of our challenges, all the while articulating LILA’s values and creating a community of belonging.

Preschool B at the Early Learning Center practiced their first-ever earthquake drill! They dropped, covered, and held on like champs.

Our HS Girls’ volleyball team secured a victory in their season opener against New Covenant Academy. LILA clinched the last three sets, with freshman Kissa N. making a standout play by scoring on her first-ever varsity serve, which was also the match point! GO LIONS!

Welcome back, Lions!! So much anticipatory excitement today as students came back to their familiar campus, or started at a new campus. And each campus is looking spiffy after their facilities upgrades over the summer! Teachers and students alike are making use of the new bean bags at Los Feliz. Burbank IB students took to the outdoor tables to enjoy the sun. Pasadena kiddos couldn’t wait to break into the PlayDoh and toys. All of West Valley gathered around to hear from their new Campus Director, Vincent. We’re jumping headfirst into a great 2024-25 academic year!! 👋

And today: CPR training at West Valley. Two more days until the first day of school. We’re ready!

Prom 2024 in the books! The last chance for graduating seniors to dress up, dance, and celebrate together before heading off to their summers, and universities, and gap years, and lives post-grad. You’ll be missed but we’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see your futures unfold, full of possibilities and opportunities 💕

It was our pleasure to host MATh.en.JEANS this year, bringing together 180 students and teachers from 7 French schools in the US and Canada to present their mathematics research.

Martial Arts/Arts Camp over April Break exposed students to new and familiar martial arts techniques, while also giving them time to express themselves with some themed arts and crafts.

Congratulations are in order for our 4th graders who won first place in a French poetry contest held by the publishing house, Bayard Milan USA. "Le concours de la poésie de la Francophonie" saw our students competing with French schools across North America. Félicitations!

Welcome back to the States, fifth graders! They just safely arrived back home from their trip to France. May the jet lag be over quick and the memories last forever!

The Scholastic Book Fair was on the Burbank campus all last week for middle schoolers. Is there a better week at school??

Just a few pieces from the IB Art Exhibition last night. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended for their enthusiastic support and presence. We were all awed by the 11th and 12th graders’ creativity and vision.

LILA table tennis team played Lycée Français yesterday, winning 3-1! 🏓🦁👏

LILA’s pre-K students transformed recycled materials into stunning butterflies for their latest class project, utilizing paper rolls and thick white paper from their classroom. 🦋♻️🧑‍🎨

Some athletics highlights for your Friday: HS boys tennis just had their first game. Good luck on a great season! MS boys basketball ended their season in 2nd place. Wow! And finally, some more photos of our Griffith Park Runners. What a turn out!

Read Across America and Pajama Day happily coincided on the Los Feliz campus. Ms. Liza’s kindergarten students spread out blankets on the grass to listen to a story being read. March is National Reading Month, and each class puts their own spin on it, most commonly with a reading goal… But nothing beats pajamas, a good book, and sunshine. 📖☀️🌳

Another great Griffith Park Run in the books… albeit delayed. It takes such commitment and grit to get up early and run and push yourself to finish, and these LILA Lions did it! Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth to say hi.

The little kids back in LA had a lot of fun over February Break too! Tons of arts and crafts, nature scavenger hunts, Lego building, science projects, and a birthday too.

Ski Week 2024 in the books. Lots of skiing and snowboarding of course, but also, karaoke, bowling, snowball fights, glow stick parties, snowman making, and Hello Kitty pajama pants..? It was a blast! ❄️

Both our middle school girls and boys basketball teams have made it to the Final Championship matches in the Arroyo Sports League! Come cheer them on this Wednesday and Thursday as they head up against Sequoyah (girls) and Pilgrim (boys). Go !!

Lots of themed clothing and valentine making and sharing on the Pasadena campus for Valentine’s Day. Cookies too! Such a sweet way to celebrate with friends 💕
