We are officially closing Oregon City School District for Friday, January 19, 2024. We optimistically saw some rain and melting throughout the day, yet as the day ends, we are now seeing freezing rain, roads icing up and wind returning.
Making sure our students can get to bus stops or walk safely to and from school is our number one concern; at this time we do not feel that we can ensure that safety. Additionally, many of our neighboring districts are closing, and considering that over half our staff live outside of our district, we are worried staff may not safely be able to get to work.
Several folks have wondered if we will need to add days to the end of the year due to these cancellations. We have confirmed the required educational hours and we do not believe we will need to make any adjustments. We do need spring to come soon, however!
We wish everyone a safe weekend. We look forward to seeing our students and staff on Monday!

First, we want to acknowledge our Maintenance and Facilities staff for their work over the past few days under extremely challenging circumstances. They’ve been checking our buildings and properties for damage and addressing the issues as they’ve surfaced. Thank you for your dedication and service!
Oregon City School District will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 18, 2024. This is due to the impact of the ice storm, unsafe road conditions, and a desire to keep all students and staff safe. The warmer weather, rain and melting of the ice didn’t happen today as we had expected. While some of Oregon City and main roads may experience more fair conditions, please remember that our district has a diverse landscape with higher elevations in some areas. We also have staff who live outside of our district and may be experiencing more severe weather and/or road conditions and may not be able to safely get to work.
