PSA:

If you haven’t noticed that the game of baseball, especially at the highschool level, has changed. Then you’re blind. Now a days if you aren’t throwing upper 80s to 90s as a pitcher in high school you’re overlooked. If you aren’t strong you’re over looked. If you aren’t fast you’re over looked. See the trend here? You have to be physically developed as well as developed in your skills or else….you’re overlooked.

Athlete need to take the opportunity to get into a strength training program NOW. Not tomorrow, not next week, not when the season is over, NOW. You need to add strength training into your routine. If you don’t, you’re left behind. Simple. That is what baseball is now.

Here is some strength stats from my high school team. This team is strong. And they also have 13 sub 7 second 60yd sprint times.

Don’t want to get over looked?

And that’s a wrap on our pre season training with .bsb
-
Over the course of 11 weeks, 3 of which we weren’t actively training, we have been able to build something great.
-
8- 1,000+lbs totals
21 - 100+lbs increases
20 - 30+” Verticals
8- 400+lbs squats
25 - 300+lbs squats
-
We also have a total of 16 sub 7 second 60yd times which most of them were already established.
-
These numbers are ridiculous.
-
Those who work will be repaid⚔️

The numbers don’t lie.
-
And this is just the start of our testing. Average increase out of 40 athletes is a 4 inches on vertical jump height. Our team average is a 29.2. This is with six weeks of actual work.
-
Our 3rd week check up was a team average of a 28.4 with an average increase of 2.3 inches.
-
You want results? We will show you the way.

Kinetic Strength & Conditioning has been working with the Lincoln Way Central Baseball team the past few weeks.

We are finishing up or FIRST three week training cycle. We have had an increase of our team average vertical jump by 2.3”. We have seen increases in individual athletes as much as 5 inches on their vertical jumps!

Our two highest verticals progressed from a
32.7 —> 36.6
33.6 —> 37.2

And that’s only 2 out of the 40 athletes.

Sleds
——
At Kinetic Strength the sled is one of the most utilized tools for our training. We don’t just use it for the lower body, there are numerous amounts of variations that the sled can be used for.
——
Warmups, strength work, conditioning, G.P.P, restoration, shoulder health etc.
——
Want to build some conditioning as well as work on your rate of force development?

Grab a sled load it with 50% of your body weight, and set a marker at the 20 yard mark.

Complete 6 sets of a 40yd drag (down and back) and time each 20yd trip.

Each set beat your previous time mark. You will notice how much force you need to generate in order to beat your set times.

During these times where all schools have been canceled and spring sports terminated, athletes are left to do what they think is necessary or have help from their coaches. But are they having you get in the weight room? Did they give you a plan on how to progress? How to continue what you built in the off-season?

I can provide those athletes with the guided plan that they need to take into this upcoming summer season, if permitting. If any athlete needs guidance, has questions, or needs a plan, email me and I can help you!

There are too many misconceptions about sprint training or aerobic training thinking if an athlete runs more and more he or she will get faster and stronger and in turn the weight room does not make athletes faster. But the more you run the more exertion you are placing on the lower limbs, then leading to overuse and then later on to an injury. Running is one of the most stressful activities that the body can endure. Each time you strike down to the ground forcefully you are accelerating downward at a speed faster than gravity, 9.8m/s. If you do not develop a base of support ie; musculature, joint stability, tendon elasticity, progress can only become stagnant at a certain point.

The law of accommodation is an athletes worst nightmare. The law of accommodation simply means when an athlete repeats the same training stimulus, volume, load, and intensity the body adapts to those stimuli and progress will stop and eventually go backwards. Hence why athletes who repeatedly engage in the same running conditions often find themselves with overuse injuries.

In order to build a base an athlete must strength train, breaking the muscle tissue down to then to recover building a thicker tissue and then in effect creating a stronger muscle. Building the posterior chain of an athlete, in this example a runner, is crucial because these muscles are the driving forces in a sprint/run. The hips, glutes, hamstrings, and yes the quads are what accelerates the athlete through lower limb extension. The stronger the muscles can become and the more efficient these muscles can work through repeated power effort the stronger and faster an athlete can become.

A good analogy to leave you with. An athlete can be related to how a car functions. The motor in the car supplies all the power to propel the vehicle forward, this can be thought of the muscular system/anaerobic base. The bigger the motor the more horsepower. The gas tank can be thought of an athletes endurance or aerobic base. An athlete can have the biggest gas tank in the world, but if they don't have the motor to back it up, that huge gas tank is pointless, the car will simply not work.

Anyone looking for a Strength and Conditioning Coach? Any athlete looking to level up in their strength and athletic performance? My name is Joey Fredrickson for those of you who don't know me. I am a former athlete who has competed and trained at an elite level and at the Division I level where I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and received my BS in Exercise Sciences. Also logging over 600+ hours as a S&C intern coach at UIC working with a diverse athlete population. Through the years of competing and physical training, I have devoted countless hours to better my athletic performance through strength and conditioning. Now it is my time to give it back to those who are willing to work their way to the top. If anyone has any questions on what I can do for them feel free to get in contact with me.

Kinectic Strength and Conditioning

Through the years of competing in athletics, left in the dark to fend for myself to develop physically has brought me to a time and place to give back to those athletes who are looking to put in the work to reach their goals and beyond. Athletes should not be left to figure things out for themselves when they are dealing with so much more other than their sport. The outside factors affect athletes on a daily and hourly basis and can weigh in on their performance. Kinetic Strength and Conditioning can provide the opportunity to the athletes who are willing to push the limits in order to reach peak physical performance on and off the field/court. If you are willing to put in the time, effort, and work ethic then this is the place for you.
