Caturra Chiroso

Caturra Chiroso comes to us via Hazel Juliana Guevara, a first generation producer, based in Huila, Colombia! Hazel and her husband, Wbeimar Lasso (if that name sounds familiar, it is - he won the 2009 Cup Tasters Championship), grew this lot on their personal farm, Finca La Terraza.

Initially noticed among caturra plants in Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia, it was believed to be a natural mutation, but with longer-shaped cherries, and named for the slang term “chiroso” meaning “slightly elongated” - this variety is actually closely linked to Ethiopian landrace varieties, similar to the “Pink Bourbon” variety. is valued for its floral notes, clarity, and sweetness!

We’re tasting a lot of grapefruit, lemon/lime, and some fun cardamom-like aromatic notes.

Caturra Chiroso is now available in store as a pourover exclusive and limited whole bean boxes.
