Labor Day has become a fall sales event across America, and we got you covered with 15% of any order over $15 through Monday! While we know you are stoked about that & hope to see you this weekend, that's not the real story.
Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors and celebrates the contributions of American workers. The holiday originated in the late 19th century as part of the labor movement's efforts to recognize the social and economic achievements of workers.
Our team at Spiral Circle is a literal dream come true and I want to take a moment to boast about the people whose labor, creativity & dedication has built Spiral Circle into what it is today.
Without their collective vibe, we wouldn't have 4.7 stars from 511 Google reviews or such a good musical playlist.
Without their diverse interests & perspective, we wouldn't have the high caliber curated collection of books, gems, jewels, scents & home decor.
Without their ability to connect & follow through, we wouldn't have the incredible selection of classes & events or funny social media posts.
Without their creative & sharp minds, we wouldn't have beautiful seasonal displays, a banned book section, a searchable database or the constant fits of giggles throughout the day.
It takes many hands to unpack & barcode every single item and also tend to tedious tasks like clean toilets, hang shelves, untangle cords, check emails, answer phone calls or ship orders and organize (& reorganize) the store every day. Not a single bookshelf would be assembled without our team.
Spiral Circle has a spirit of it's own, but the beautiful, hilarious & caring people that work here bring a vibrancy & vitality that makes a store into a community space with impeccable vibes.
Thank you Ruth, Chonteau, Christina, Yuki, Sophia, Robert, Deanna, Samantha & Cheyenne. Y'all make me happy to come to work every day and it's an honor to co-create our culture together, to debate about what's best for Spiral Circle alongside you, and share the laughter/tears/meals we've managed to make happen along the way. You are the GOAT & I'm honored to collaborate & conspire with each of you.

"Wow. Thank you. I never think about what's going on behind the scenes at Spiral Circle and I am delighted with this message."
– Pam, via email
Dearest Community,
I received Pam's comment last week when I shared with our community one of Spiral Circle'ss cornerstone values: Conscious Context. This feedback encouraged me to share more about our values framework.
From our Conscious Culture Values Framework:
"Spiral Circle's Conscious Culture Values Framework is a reflective practice and evaluative process to help guide our decision-making and clearly communicate what we stand for.
We refer to these values internally to help us discern who is a compatible fit for our organization and to communicate what we, as colleagues, are encouraged to cultivate within ourselves and on our shelves to maximize collective joy at Spiral and beyond.
This values framework guides us in choosing who, what, when, where and how we want to commit our focus, money and influence. The five C's of Conscious Culture are: Character, Contribution, Context, Celebration and Collaboration."
Today, I'd love to share with you our Conscious Character Value. It's an incredible framework for evaluating not just the kinds of colleagues you might want to work with, but also serves as a springboard for evaluating the character of the kind of leaders you want in office, the kinds of friends you want to be surrounded by and even the kind of person you want to engage with romantically. Learn more about our Conscious Character Value here.
Hugs & Gratitude,
Julie & the entire team at Spiral Circle
Who do we choose to be? Cultivating Conscious Character An incredible framework that serves as a springboard for evaluating the character of the kind of leaders you want in office, the kinds of friends you want to be surrounded by and even the kind of person you want to engage with romantically.
A lot of powerful women shop at Spiral Circle, but only one is going to bring home gold from the Olympics this summer!!! We'll be watching you slay in Paris and can't wait to see you again!
Dearest Community,
Spiral Circle has been a consciousness raising bookstore for nearly fifty years. One of the central questions folks come in here looking to answer is "Who am I?" We all have multiple identities: gender, class, race, age, ability that make us who we are, this is referred to as intersectionality. However, those identities are shaped by the culture in which we are living in and the histories that our ancestors or caregivers went though though. After looking at your personal matrix of identities the next level of conscious awareness is to consider the identities of the people around you. This usually starts with our friends, family & partners and extend out in wider & wider circles of awareness.
This post going to be a longer letter than usual, but I do hope you will read through to the end, because the sentiment is a critically important one right now as we watch what is unfolding in our nation.
One of the core values that Spiral Circle has adopted in our internal culture is what we call Conscious Context. On a community level, the exploration of context is this struggle between war and peace. Why is our society so divided? Where have I oppressed myself and others? Where have I or others been oppressed? How can we come up with creative solutions to integrate more peace into our lives? How can we work together for restorative and transformative justice and bring healing to such a traumatized society?
Allow me to quote from our Conscious Culture Values Framework for a moment:
"Contextual awareness is our most critical and central touchstone value, one that goes unnamed and ignored in a society which has demanded linear, one size fits all, black or white type orientation. This 2D approach, however, doesn't reveal the whole story and leads to ignorance, confusion and less than optimal outcomes. In contrast, operating in context is a cyclical, adaptive and multi-dimensional paradigm that leads to awareness and clarity with the potential to optimize outcomes in a proactive way.
When we talk about context, we are referencing a changeable confluence of elements. A composition of players (people or stakeholders), place (positionality or physical location), the climate itself (mood or actual environment) and timing (cyclical and opportunistic) are all considered. A master at contextual awareness is one part social scientist, one part social intuitive, and one part social artist who is able synthesize multiple data streams, infuse the information with their practical knowledge and then apply their intuition to be able to predict & plan for what is possible with the capacity available at a given moment.
These sage observers & navigators are able to spot & seize opportunities in perfect timing that others are simply unaware of because the are actively engaged and have the ability to proactively plan and strategize to mitigate risks and seize opportunities. They know where someone or some some situation is coming from, where they are at in a cycle and where they are likely headed next. At the same time, they know when to have patience, when to act and when to rest."
I share this with you now because I have been struck with recent whirlwind turn of events in our nation's politics that context is a central talking point of Vice President Kamala Harris. Witnessing history rapidly unfolding & what has emerged in the past 36 hours, I cannot help but notice that our VP has achieved mastery in the area of context, strategy & timing.
"You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you." – Kamala Harris
Regardless of whether you like her or agree with her politics, it's undeniable that she's mobilized a grassroots movement overnight with a strong coalition of social change activist organizations that have been on the ground doing the work for decades and have the capacity to meet this moments need. It needs to be said that this organizing is led by women, particularly black women, who have the most at stake in this election. Watching democracy loving, equality oriented people from across the spectrum seize this window of opportunity and put their all into the work of saving our democracy is a priviledge, but I know many of our patrons are not interested in watching from the sidelines.
I am proud to say that our curation at the store has intentionally been focused on books & tools that help understand identity, context, and peaceful activism in earnest and we invite you to browse our 300+ items dedicated to supporting our community through these transformative and tumultuous times if you want to take your awareness and engagement to the next level.
A Conscious Community – one with intersectional & contextual awareness – doesn't just "happen" by chance – it's worked on, together, with intention. Chonteau McElvin is our Director of Conscious Culture at Spiral Circle, and our work conspiring together with our entire team under her sage guidance to bring you a store full of products that celebrate & reflect the diversity of people in our community has been a deliberate & sometimes uncomfortable (and certainly imperfect) process as we discover our blindspots and bias along the way.
The work is worth every liberating second, though, and certainly the very least we can do as we support the evolution of our community on their own personal journey to collective liberation & joy. I'm hopeful that the beautiful world our hearts know is possible will be made manifest with all of your compassionate hearts engaged in whatever way you are called to contribute to make this a reality.
Hugs & Gratitude,
Julie Wilder

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we hope you take what joy can be found with family & friends at cookouts and festivities as you may be reflecting on the core values of freedom, citizenship and democracy that this day represents. In light of the current political climate, we understand that many of us are seeking ways to feel empowered as engaged citizens when we're not trying to escape the madness altogether, with outrage fatigue making devastating headlines seem like just another day in America.
One small act of citizenry that will make a difference: before fireworks start, ask the young people if they are registered to vote. Text them a link to vote.gov to learn how to register because the youth have so much at stake.
This month, we are featuring resources that promote peace, connection, and community across divides. We hope you'll take a leap from self development to becoming a person who takes an interest in community development in ways that compliment you personality, interests and skills.
As we celebrate our nation's independence, let's also celebrate the strength we find in unity and understanding. Our bookstore is more than just a place to buy books; it's a hub for ideas, dialogue, and community-building. Together, we can create a more connected and compassionate world.

Revitalizing Spiral Circle, founded in 1975
Located in the heart of Central Florida, our metaphysical bookstore is no ordinary place. For decades, Spiral Circle has been a pioneering spiritual center and anchor institution in Central Florida for like-minded people to gather together and explore the many paths of spirituality.
Founded on May 16th, 1975 by Beverly & William Ford, this beloved "third place" enjoyed it's 44th birthday in 2019, just prior to being acquired on June 3rd by Sky Mother, LLC. Sky Mother was the original name of Spiral Circle and formed as a joint venture between the Summer Rodman Trust (majority ownership) and Yestermorrow Adventures, which is wholly owned by Julie Wilder.
Inspired by Beverly Ford's pioneering spirit and a deep commitment to community, these new caretakers will cultivate this spiritual space into the foreseeable future.
We have a wide selection of crystals, tarot & oracle decks, incense, candles, wellness products and so much more. Part of our inventory is available in our online shop, but for the full experience, you’ve got to visit our humble house in the Mills/50 district near downtown Orlando.
