Today's word: sorry.

In my first novel, there's a lot of "sorry" going around, as it's a slow-burn rivals to lovers (who have to pass through friendship) and there's bad behavior to apologize for on both sides. Anyway, this is a lighter moment as they're becoming friends.

8/28 Who is the first character you created for this work?

Skylar was absolutely the first created. I had specifically answered a call for a short story that would be part of a zodiac series. My sign is Leo, and so I knew I wanted to write for that zodiac entry. Skylar, a cat-shifter, materialized as my MC, and I pitched a short story about her using her abilities to find her girlfriend's missing son. I'm now expanding that story and that world into a novel.

Today is (19th Amendment passed in the US, giving women the right to vote). The daughter of a strong woman (whose birthday happens to also be today), I have always written strong women characters. Readers seem to like that. mybook.to/LZTurningPoint and mybook.to/LZTurn4Home

8/26 If your MC wrote books, what genre would they write? Why? Skylar would love to write books. She's an avid reader, owns a bookstore, and loves that humans share language, and tell stories. Growing up, her family never did any of these things. She'd probably write contemporary general fiction about life in a small town because that's the life she knows and loves.

8/23 In your MC's mind, what's the worst thing they have ever done? Skylar killed a human when in her animal form. It's why she refuses to shift, and why she fears her two worlds colliding when Lila's son goes missing after an animal kills his father on their camping trip.

8/22 What makes your hero feel weak? Skylar feels weak when she is in animal form. Even though she's at her physical peak in that form, she cannot access what she considers better traits: reasoned thinking and language.
