During the Florida Blue Florida Classic Night of Distinction held last week, we had the privilege of awarding $2,500 scholarships to two deserving students from District 6 attending Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Bethune Cookman University. These scholarships were made possible by the generous contributions of Craig Govan, the Govan Family Foundation and the Riebling Family. Unfortunately, the students could not attend due to their busy academic schedules, so their families joined us instead.
Jacques Arbrac is a sophomore at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, studying criminal justice with a minor in cyber security. Zion Wilson is currently a freshman at Bethune Cookman University, where she is majoring in Elementary Education. Both Zion and Jacques are proud graduates of Jones High School.
Thank you, Florida Citrus Sports, for allowing us to collaborate and your efforts in organizing this fantastic event.

Commissioner Burns recently joined Rebuilding Together Central Florida and volunteers from Lockheed Martin to help 84-year-old Navy veteran Paul Sampson. Mr. Sampson served in the Navy for over two decades and later worked as a nurse in a naval hospital. Despite his commendable service, Mr. Sampson required help due to limited mobility and a home needing repairs. The volunteers painted his home's exterior, completed landscaping work, and removed the carpet to make his living space more comfortable.
