Telehealth sessions can be awkward, but after two years in a pandemic, I have had a lot of practice to try and make it as "normal" as possible. Therapy without having to leave your house? It can be GREAT! Getting to wear your pajamas while you deal with hard things? AWESOME! I try to create my telehealth space, that you see here, in a way that still feels like the safe, professional therapy office, while also feeling homey and comfortable. And when working with kids, I add some toys and crafts to keep the fun going!

All that being said, I WILL have in person sessions available very soon! In person sessions will occur in the Shawnee Mission area, I will be able to post the exact location once it is finalized!

Why the willow tree?

Deciding on imagery for a practice is HARD. For me, I wanted the imagery or symbol to reflect strength, growth, and resilience. The ability to stand through adversity and continue growing and thriving. I also strive to create a place where people feel safe. Safe to let their guard down, show the parts of themselves they have built walls around, and allow wounds to breathe and heal.

I was toying around with various trees and flowers, when a friend suggested the willow tree. Now, my first thought was, “aren’t willows sad?” But then I looked into the symbolism around willow trees. Their wide branches and hanging leaves create a canopy, a safe and protective space. The willow tree is also a symbol of new life. Did you know you can plant a branch of a willow tree and a new tree will grow from it? I thought this was incredible! Many times after trauma or hardship, we feel like pieces of us have been broken, but we can plant ourselves and grow anew. The willow tree is also incredibly flexible, it can bend and move when others may break, allowing it to withstand harsh storms. Just like you can withstand so much, bending and moving with the changes of your world, and continuing to grow and thrive.

Let me introduce myself! My name is Reanna and I am a LMSW located in Kansas, licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. I have been licensed since 2017 and providing therapy in a private practice setting since 2019. I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults in a variety of areas such as trauma, attachment, depression, anxiety, parenting, life changes, family dynamic changes, and more. I am trained in a multitude of evidence based methods, with high levels of training in Play Therapy, Theraplay, and Cognitive therapies. I have a passion for helping people, and helping them reach their goals, increase their sense of self worth, work through struggles, and improve their life. I am also passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and supporting Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ persons.
