If you aren’t naming and breaking the cycles that have entangled you, you are participating in them.
This is true in most systems we are part of, but is especially true for families. Researchers call it “intergenerational trauma” and have demonstrated that the trauma of a parent is literally, genetically, passed to offspring.
Sometimes I get feedback on this image that not all families have - but is a much broader category than just or - it includes the legacies of and more.
Recently, I put together a on my site (link in profile) where you can self-evaluate your experiences on 16 common themes of intergenerational trauma.
“ADHD makes seemingly small tasks so insurmountable a lot of the time and it's hard to explain why.
This is what it's like being inside my brain. Also clearly I'm enjoying doing terrible illustrations when I should be doing other things.”

Happy Sunday 🙏
Supporting your partner through difficult moments starts with making them feel seen and heard.
Dr. John Gottman discovered that couples who remained close over time were good at listening to each other’s stresses. One way to do this is by regularly have a Stress-Reducing Conversation.
Take about 30 minutes daily or weekly to discuss things from outside the relationship that may be causing each of you stress or hurt. Spend half the time listening to your partner’s feelings and half sharing your own. This isn’t the time to come up with solutions for one another or talk about things within the relationship that are upsetting you. Instead, offer empathy and understanding.

We all bloom differently 🌷
Here's your reminder to do what makes sense to you, what brings you joy and makes your heart happy, even if it doesn't make sense to others.
We're all different and create our own paths in life - we learn our own lessons, make our own mistakes and find our own happy accidents. That's how we grow. 🌱
It's also normal to change interests, try different things, let go of old dreams and find new ones. When you do your own thing, you might find yourself blooming. 🤗
I'd love to hear, what makes you bloom at this point in your life? 🌷
Ps. I know I've been away for a while! Life has been a whirlwind and I've taken time off from social media to preserve my energy and prevent burnout. I'll be back soon - take care of yourselves & thanks for being here! ❤️

Progress is progress.
Sometimes it looks a little different than what we anticipate.
Sometimes we slide backwards.
Sometimes we ebb and flow.
The important thing is that we keep trying and pushing forward.
I don’t draw dinosaurs often because I have a hard time figuring out how to make them as cute as I’d like. 😂 But I hope I got close with this T. rex who is practicing some great self care ❤️ I love this quote. Because a lot of us think we’re being selfish with self care and the message is never that we need to neglect everyone else for ourselves. It’s that we get to be cared for in the mix too ❤️💛 happy Friday!
Happy Friday everyone! Here is a little jingle to ground you 🙂
Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?
Because he has her so brainwashed that it’s all her fault and that she’s no good to anyone and no one will want her or love her and there’s no way she can possibly make it on her own.
Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?
Because she thinks that if she just tries harder and if she’s a better wife and a better mom that maybe he will be happy with her and he wouldn’t get so angry with her. And maybe he will be the same sweet, charming man that he was when they first met.
Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?
Because he has her convinced that if she tries he will hurt or kill her or her family. Because he has threatened to tell the judge that she is a bad mom and will take away her kids and she will never see them again. Because he has taken away her money and convinced her that she has no good job qualities to make it on her own financially and she will always need him.
More people are concerned with why women stay in abusive relationships than why men are abusing women. Unless you’ve been in an abusive relationship people have no idea how hard it is to escape. Abusers are able to fool those outside the home because they usually only abuse those inside the home.
They need your support.
They need your love.
They do not need your judgement.
