The highlight of our employee appreciation lunch was having food grilled by Elvyra, Executive Director and Geoven, Senior Executive Assistant. Thank you to A&G Construction for generously providing all the food and drinks. Thank you to The Key for providing four themed gift sets each including a $25 VISA gift card and other goodies, which were raffled off to our employees.

Our annual Health Fair included walker and Aeroscout Pendant maintenance. Thank you to the following for participating: The Blind and Visually Impaired Center of Monterey County, Central Avenue Pharmacy, Healthy Living at Home, Monterey Bay Power Over Parkinson's, Monterey Sports Center, Peggy's Home Care, Rehab Alliance, Shirley Kiatta-Elder Care Consultant, VNA and Hospice.

We need to have CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) and caregivers working 24/7 to service the needs of our residents. We currently have 30 CNAs and 5 caregivers. We are grateful for them everyday, however, we take the opportunity on CNA Appreciation Week to show them our appreciation . A big thank you to all the vendors who generously provided food! 🥰

Juneteenth reminds us to be grateful for how far we've come and to understand we have more work ahead of us. Front Porch is committed to building a culture where everybody belongs and we live our shared values. We look forward to making positive changes to create a more equitable world. But for today, we join in celebrating the progress that has been made. Happy Juneteenth!

Celebrating Father's Day at Canterbury Woods! We grilled steak, fresh vegetables and bacon wrapped scallops. We recognized 8 fathers for working on their special day with a little gift.

We want to shine the spotlight on a couple of our employees who just reached their 10 year anniversary. Josie (on the left) started working for us part-time doing reception at the Front Desk on the weekends. She then added on a couple of days as an Activities Assistant. She also helped with coverage in the Health Center as Unit Secretary and as a server in the Dining Room. Three years ago, she started working full-time in the Sales & Marketing Department. She is currently Sales & Marketing Assistant. Marivic started working for us part-time as a Medical Records Coordinator. Six years ago, she started working full-time as Business Office Clerk/Resident Coordinator. She is currently Medical Billing Specialist. Thank you, Josie and Marivic for ten years of service at Canterbury Woods! 👏🎉

It's an accomplishment for a skilled nursing center to go six continuous months without a single occurrence of a resident fall. We celebrated this accomplishment with our Health Center staff today. 👏

For many years, Canterbury Woods has given high school students their first jobs, providing valuable life and work experience. It's an accomplishment to do well in school, while working at the same time. This year we are proud to announce that seven of our employees are graduating from high school. Congratulations to Charlee, Chenelle, Christo, Elizabeth, Luiza, Rosangelica and Troy!
In addition, congratulations to Chrystine, LVN, for receiving her AA degree in a registered nursing program and to Desiree, Caregiver, for receiving her Masters degree in education! 🥳

Happy Pride Month! Did you know...Front Porch’s Well Connected program has an LGBTQ Chat group, open for people over the age of 60 who identify as LGBTQ. We enjoyed a performance by local guitarist, Richard DeVinck, who has been performing and teaching for over 30 years.

Before May draws to a close, we want to honor and celebrate Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month by recognizing the many people from AAPI backgrounds whose presence and contributions make Front Porch a better place to live and work.

Since we consider the deer part of our Canterbury Woods family, we welcomed a presentation by representatives of the Pacific Grove Deer Awareness Resource and Urban Trapping Wildlife Control. 🦌

As SAGE, the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging explains, “Whether they protested in the streets, founded organizations, or just managed to survive times of social unrest, LGBT older people laid the groundwork for the progress all LGBT people now enjoy." Thank you to Brian, Beth, Jerry and all those who have paved the way.

On May 14, we ushered in spring with floral-based foods, lavender infused drinks and flowers galore. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to create their own personal bouquet, choosing from a variety of fresh cut flowers, then having their portrait taken with it, in front of a beautiful backdrop. It was a lovely way to spend a spring afternoon. 💐🌷🪻🌹🥀🌺🌸🌻🌼

Caring Connection and Being Human Connection with one another and caring about something larger than ourselves is at the heart of philanthropy.

This year for our annual mother/daughter Mother's Day post, we feature Rizelle, who started with us as a Certified Nurse Assistant in 2012. She left in 2017. She returned in 2022, as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She is currently an MDS Coordinator in our Health Center. Her daughter, Ellynne, started working for us in December 2023 as a Dining Room Server. She is currently a junior in high school. 👩‍👧
