I would recommend Dr. Theofilos and The Spine Center to anyone that has back pain, especially if they need surgery! Dr T is the one to go to. “I was a rodeo cowboy for 30 years, bull riding and roping. The back pain started and my first surgeon didn’t help at all. It all started when I moved a heavy gardening pot for my wife. The next day my back was really sore and after three weeks the soreness was replaced with what I thought was sciatica. It kept getting worse. It got to the point where I had to see a doctor. My doctor gave me a steroid injection and I was 90% better for three days. The severe pain started again! I’ve had kidney stones before and this pain was much worse! I got a new MRI and my doctor referred me to a surgeon that never called me back. Thank goodness a friend referred me to Dr. Theofilos! I got in quickly, got evaluated and booked for the first available surgery date.

I woke up from surgery and I was very happy the pain was gone. The next day I started walking and every day I walk a little bit more. It’s been 10 days since my surgery and I’m up to walking 2 miles a day!

I had my first post-op visit today! In 2011, I had a lumbar fusion at L3-L4 and L4-L5. Everything went pretty well until 2015 when I started having pain again. I went to another surgeon who would not perform surgery. I was suffering from bilateral sciatica which was very scary and I didn’t know what to do. In 2018, I went on vacation to France but I struggled to walk and missed out on a lot of activities I wanted to do. I knew I needed help! I heard about Dr. Theofilos through the Palm Beach Post articles he writes every Sunday. He appeared to be very knowledgeable and skilled. I spoke with my primary physician as well as my cardiologist, both of whom highly recommended him. Dr. Theofilos took the time to review my symptoms and images of my back. He determined I did, in fact need surgery and on December 2, 2019 I underwent an Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion at L2-L3. I can say without a doubt, I am dramatically improved and continue to stride in the right direction. I no longer have sciatic pain and weakness in my legs. I am able to walk once again without a struggle. My only regret is not coming to Dr Theofilos sooner!

Today was my first post-op appointment and I am happy to report that I am absolutely pain-free! Although I had a small amount of pain the night of surgery, by the next day the pain was gone. Before I had surgery, I didn’t know if I’d be able to walk 100 yards or only 10. I had tried everything I could from adjustments to an inversion table, even injections but none of the pain relief lasted. The bottom of my foot felt as though I was walking on cardboard. It was at that point, I found Dr. Theofilos and scheduled an appointment. He recommended surgery in the form of a Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) with stem cells. I am now looking forward to getting back to a normal life and doing all of the things that I used to do before the pain!
