Glaucoma Life- another 6mm plus, lens induced glaucoma. Patient had cataract surgery, goniosynechialysis and goniotomy today. It feels so good to get these giant lenses out. So much more room once you are done… ahhhhh the feeling of relief! Can’t wait to see the improvement in vision and pressure tomorrow.

Every surgery day, and today was no exception, I am able to use all these devices to tailor eye pressure reduction in all the different patients we have. Some patients need a combined procedure with cataract surgery to improve their vision, some just need IOP lowering surgery to improve their quality of life And vision! When we reduce Intraocular pressure we can finally minimize (in many instances, eliminate) the burden of the multitude of glaucoma medications so many glaucoma patients have! The less number of glaucoma medication drops used, the better the ocular surface will be. Never underestimate the impact of a better ocular surface on visual acuity and quality of vision! Exciting times ! Also just realizing Hydrus is missing in picture- not used today but certainly another very handy MiGs device to count with! Cheers to technology and innovation and patient centered care!

What a pleasure it was to be the first in Palm Beach County and a little beyond, to implant the new Odyssey lens!! Thank you Matt and JnJ for the opportunity! So excited to see the results! Wednesday surgery day is the best part of the week tied with Thursday when I see my patients postoperative day one! As multifocal technology gets better and better and interventional mindset in glaucoma surgical treatment gains more traction we should be able to help so many more. Thank you to all companies that have invested in moving this field forward!!

On my way to something very exciting today. Looking forward to offering my glaucoma patients even more ways to controlling eye pressure without decreasing quality of life.

Coming back from Envision Summit 2024! Happy, armed with new knowledge and happy to have shared my knowledge with colleagues I respect and admire. Shared with old friends and new friends. Saw dear mentors and colleagues from UPMC, my Alma mater and the best training center ever:) Reconnected with colleagues and friends that I have met at this meeting and that have become close family friends. Met more women docs that are humble super stars! Always in admiration and appreciation of Dr Bonnie Henderson who within “retirement”created a high quality meeting that truly involves family. There is a fully equipped kids room, thanks to my friend Dr. Carrie Saslow and team that allows for kids to enjoy their time and pop into auditorium if they wish to hear and see their mom or dad speaking. Family is integrated to share events at the meeting. I’ve seen the growth since it’s beginnings 5 years ago but the philosophy and feel of the meeting persists. The quality of the speakers and talks is high and our section moderators were excellent. Thank you again Dr Eva Kim and Dr. Sonia Yoo for the invitation to speak on MIGs update for the Cataract Surgeon at the Cataract and Refractive Section this year. Can’t wait for Envision 2025.❤️

It is GlaucomaAwareness Month! It is our passion to not just treat but to educate our patients. This is how we make the best Doctor-Patient Team.
