The Karat School Project
We are an organization that strives to provide quality education to underprivileged children Education is needed in order for a society to succeed.
We are an organization which provides education to underprivileged children and help to families living in extreme poverty in the Ivory Coast. Our long-term mission is to provide education that will bring sustainable relief from extreme poverty and change society while helping with current issues such as hunger and shelter. Our current project: build a center to provide early childhood education.
Our YESS Program is all about supporting mental health and creating a strong, caring community for young people. 🌿💙 We believe mental well-being is the foundation for success, which is why we prioritize activities that nurture resilience, self-worth, and connection. Through art therapy, group discussions, and mindful activities, YESS creates a safe space for youth to explore and express their feelings openly.
By centering community, we help young people feel supported and empowered, building bonds that last and inspiring them to become leaders in their own lives. ✨

Reflecting on Make a Difference Day! We’re honored to share a powerful interview with our founder, Evelyne Keomian, discussing Poverty and Inequality: Beyond the Tech Glitter in Silicon Valley. 🌍✨
In this eye-opening YouTube episode, Evelyne dives into the realities of Silicon Valley’s wealth disparity, where the top 10% earn $398,000 while the bottom 20% make under $35,000. Despite the area's high median income, over 7,000 people face homelessness nightly, and educational gaps are evident, with only 25% of third graders in East Palo Alto reading at grade level compared to 75% in wealthier Palo Alto.
Through KSP, Evelyne is working to bridge these divides by empowering individuals facing housing insecurity here in the Bay Area and rescuing children from child labor and early marriage in Côte d'Ivoire. To date, KSP has positively impacted over 30,000 lives globally.

On this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we reaffirm our belief that education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty. We’re passionate about educating young people, especially girls, because we know that when girls are empowered through education, entire communities benefit!
This school year, we’re proud to have out of 111 students enrolled, 52 are girls...working hard to bridge the gap in gender inequality. By giving girls the opportunity to learn, we’re not just changing their futures but creating a ripple effect of positive change for generations to come!
This World Food Day, KSP is proud to support students and families with access to nutritious meals. 🥗🌍
In Côte d'Ivoire, we provide daily meals to our students, ensuring they have the energy to learn and thrive. Here in the Bay Area, we support RV families with meals and gas cards, helping ease the burden and bring a bit of relief to those in need.
Together, we can fight hunger and nourish futures. 💚
On this International Day of Rural Women, we celebrate the incredible impact of our Women’s Education Farm Program in Côte d'Ivoire! 🌾 Through this initiative, KSP empowers rural women and girls by providing farming resources that encourage education and self-sufficiency. By supporting their families through agriculture, girls can stay in school and pursue brighter futures, while women gain valuable skills to uplift their communities.👩🏿🌾
Join us in honoring the strength, resilience, and determination of rural women around the world! 🪴
As Indigenous Peoples' Day comes to a close, may we reflect on the importance of honoring the original cultures and people of the land we occupy. 🌿✨ Let us continue to move forward with grace, respect, and a commitment to understanding and uplifting Indigenous voices and traditions.
Through our Vamos Afuera program, we're teaching fun, long-lasting approaches to mental health care! 🌿✨ We believe mental wellness starts with simple habits, like getting good sleep. That’s why we host creative activities, like pillowcase decorating, to make learning about the importance of sleep and self-care both engaging and digestible for the kids.
By combining art and education, we’re helping them develop healthy routines they can carry with them for life! 💤🎨

A heartfelt message from Evelyne:
Dear KSP Family,
It’s hard to believe that our seventh school year has just kicked off in Cote d’Ivoire! We start this year with excitement for the years to come, gratitude for the journey we've shared, and anticipation for the challenges we will face.
This year, we have about 112 students with backgrounds ranging from selling galettes on the streets to working in cashew, hevea, and cacao farms.
As you invest in providing them with a safe space, two warm meals a day, and an education that will lead to a brighter future, it’s an honor for the team and myself to experience the transformative power of your philanthropy.
❤️ We want to thank all of you and ask you to share our passion with your loved ones!
