The Electronics Technology sub-division of Pasadena City College offers projects-based courses that include Intro to Electronics, Hardware, Printed Circuit Design, Programming, Digital and Control Electronics, and Intro to Robotics.
Check out the robot lineup for the Spring ‘24 semester! Students designed their custom robot covers in SolidWorks and fabricated them all from our FabLab on campus using 3D printing, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and more.
Students taking ELTN 150 will get to solder their own XLR (microphone) and TS (guitar/instrument) cables to keep! Professional standard audio cables are expensive, so why not learn to make your own!

Printed Circuit Board design is a high-demand skills in electronics industries that is rarely taught at 4-year colleges.
Get trained in using CAD software EAGLE to lay out circuit boards that meet industry standards or are custom designed for particular applications.
All students will learn to go from breadboard prototyping to PCB layout to professional manufacturing of their PCB design.

The college has several safety measures in place, which make it possible for students to return to campus safely. This includes daily temperature checks and symptoms surveying for everyone upon entering the campus.
SUMMER: Intro to Electronics (ELTN 130) is open for registration now as a hybrid class. Labs will meet two mornings a week and limited to 10 students, and lectures will be fully online.

Electronics classes are now hybrid for the Spring 2021 semester! Labs will be held on campus and will follow health safety guidelines. Class size is limited to 10 students.

Using an oscilloscope to measure a digital PWM signal. This shows manual speed control of a small motor via a potentiometer. These are just some of the real lab skills students learn in our Electronics Technology classes.
ELTN 130 Intro to Electronics include many lab activities that teach use of test and measurement equipment used in the lab enviornment. Students directly apply theoretical concepts learn to a variety of useful applications.
ELTN 117 Intro to Embedded Design introduces students to the almighty microntroller. Learn the basics of writing code to program these powerful little devices to control sensors, motors, lights, etc. and build any project you can think of. You are limited only by your imagination.
